what's up guys, just asking advice. i have a guy who wants to sell me a 1995 240sx base model for $1k. no title, blown headgasket. was thinking i can fork out a grand and turn it around, part it out.... what could i get for parting it out? think i could make a grand or two profit over the grand i spend on buying it?
thanks

hows the body of the car? any stupid big dents? frame damage? etc?

its actually a clean car, maybe a few small dents like the size of a quarter, they are on the hood, nothing major. i did a carfax report, back in 96 it had a minor accident, but i checked it all out and i cant see a thing wrong with it. taillights are there, the rest of the lights are there except the drivers side headlight is broken. interior is in really nice shape.... sucks that its a blown head gasket and there is no title. if i wasnt from another state, staying here in texas for school, id apply for a title, but i dont have time for it. i was looking to get it for a grand and make anywhere from 500 or more profit, i think i can get an extra grand from the parts ive seen, maybe even more

No, you can work at mcdonnalds and.
timelost vs invested return
McDonnalds>Taking S14 and P/O.
So unless you want a shell for whatever personal reason, this is not a reasonable money making scheme.

You didn't say if it was a manual, but I assume so. If that is the case, part it. The 5speed parts and dash will clear the cost of the car easily if you sell them right, then everything else is profit. Anytime you can take a clean S14 off the road for good you should jump at it, otherwise some kid will buy it, rig it up, wreck it to hell, and then no one benefits from it since there's no good parts left.
Just keep in mind you won't clear it out quickly, 80% of used parts buyers these days are lowballers from hell and they are not gong to pay FMV for anything until they're out of other options. You might have parts still leftover next year, but again it's worth it to make a little profit and save a good chassis from the kids.

ive done some adding up on what i could sell. i am thinking about offering him $800 see if he takes it. i mean after all, it is a good body for a 95 basemodel, it is 5spd, blown head gasket and NO title. i could make most of that back stripping just the interior..... shit even more with the uncracked dash, i know how ppl want that. ill probably strip it most of the way, leave the engine and tranny in the car and have someone come get it for a bill or two. all they need to do is replace the headgasket..
not to mention the car has a complete 5lug conversion sitting in the trunk

You're probably better off spending "all the time in the world" getting a side job then. I hardly work at all 2-3 days a week and I make, after taxes, in a month what you are hoping to make off of parting out this car. Plus I didn't have to invest $1k initially. I don't have to deal with flakers and lowballers and paypal schemes and shipping and etc.

side job? naw, i dont want to worry bout finding a side job and dealing with out of state taxes.... i am hear to focus on school, everything is paid for, i saved for this journey so i owe nothing. this is for me to beable to have fun stripping out a car and selling it through forums, ebay or locally. idont care about hassle i care about making $500 or better in profit

you'd make more if you got it retitled in your name and replaced the ka with another and put the five lug on and then sold it for around three grand that is what i would do

not really, i dont have time, place nor the tools to do it myself, id have to pay someone to do a swap and pay for the motor, as far as the retitle..... i am out of state and i dont want to go through the shit i have to go through to retitle it.... neither does the owner of the car, he is too busy to deal with it, he wants it removed.

getting a title and a new headgasket would be worth the timre in the end. i parted out a s14 se and made about 1300-1500 bucks. a running s14 goes for over 3000. doing the work on the car to make it sellable will probably be about the same either way too.

come on dude, for real i guess i need to explain it, i dont have time to retitle it, find a place that will fix it or swap it, i can do it but i have no tools to fix it and i dont have the shop equipment, andddddd i live in an apt complex.
i have like 4 or 5 hrs in the morning before school to strip it down, i have a couple of guys that might help me complete that task within one morning and have someone come pick up the rest of the chasis and blown motor w/tranny.... like i said aslong as i can profit the least 500 ill be happy, i think i can get more than that though
