1995 240sx se. This is on a car that I recently bought so I don't know the history of the brakes.

The ebrake feels really loose and doesn't do shit to stop the car...it's probably operating at 10% of its full potential.

I've adjusted the cable via the nut on the ebrake handle, this helped some but not much. If I adjust it to max and pull all the way up sometimes the drivers side brake will get stuck, so just that wheel is locked up. It takes a hammer to loosen it.

Any ideas? Seems to me like the ebrake mechanism inside the brake is what's messed up.

ebrake lines do strech.
you might want to replace your pads and rotor it might all be worn to shit.
good luck playa

Pads and rotors (drilled / slotted) are good...car stops on a dime, it's just the ebrake that sucks.

Stretching ebrake cables could be a problem, but they'd have to be stretching a hell of a lot.

There's a drum brake for the parking brake and a disc brake on the back. You might want to check the parking brakes shoes and make sure that they aren't worn out.

Here's the adjusting instruction too.

where did you get those pictures, that's not a 240sx. the s14 has an integrated parking brake. the rear calipers are notorious for the parking brake freezing. check the lever arm on both calipers and make sure it moves freely (aside from the spring) and that it clamps the pad when you move it. your cables might be stretched but the calipers might be bad also.

yea that looks like the z32 ebrake set up. s chassis uses the rear caliper for ebrake

The 2nd diagram is close enough. Lift up your ebrake handle and there is a small hole in the boot. Takes a 10mm wrench to tighten. If that doesnt work inspect the rear calipers, the cable might not be in place on 1 side.

I would highly suspect that both your rear calipers need to be replaced.

Follow the FSM and inspect the rear. Download a copy and verify for yourself. See if you can adjust as per instructions in the FSM.

If not, you have to replace both of the calipers.

the second pic looks just like the one from the s14 fsm, the first one however, i don't know, z31 maybe? it shows a drum-in-hat but it's four lug.

I think that's CA S13.
