ok so i have an s13 with Kouki 180sx Taillights. the parking lights come on when the lights are on but the brake lights dont work... pulled the bulbs and they seem to be fine. the lights worked when i got the car the previous owner put them in. so i dont know how to wire them. now when i had the reverse lights wired to a switch thoes wires shorted out that might have something to do with it but the brake lights worked after that. of course i checked all the fuses. i thought about adjusting the break switch but i wasnt sure if that was it or not. and didnt know what screw to turn. if anyone could help me out i dont like driving with out brake lights

well first off they are not type X taillights! They are Kouki 180sx Taillights. Now if you do a search for that you will find the wiring info you need.

Fuck is a break light? No wonder you're having problems, they're already broken.

Did someone say anything negative about a Sileighty?
I swear I missed that.
Unprovoked douchebaggery is so not becoming, cut it out.

actually the reason why sileightys came along is because the silvia front end is cheaper and more availiable in japan so when the 180sx wreck they just switched to the slivia front end creating the sileighty therefore making them still kick ass... now back to helpin me out please

Um... Thank you for telling the known.

And if you want to get technical about it. There is ZERO reason for a sileighty in the states. Being as how you could get a usdm from for $100 yet kids still pay ass loads of money for a sil front. But oh wait. You spent all of your money on the front so you can't afford to wire it up propperly nor paint it? Isn't that a shame.

Your logic is pointless.

To make sure this thread doesn't totaly suck balls.

Undo the crappy wire job that is on there now and restart. Grab a volt meter that way you can tell which wire is what. If you want to make it easier, download the fsm and follow which tail light wires go to what on the stock socket. Then resolder the kouki tail socket to the usdm wire.

I mean it isn't hard. I did it in less then 10 minutes in the rain.

That's all you really need to do for, "break" lights.

To actually make this a thread that might help you...

If your break lights just stay on even when you aren't on the brake it could simply be the small rubber stopper that the brake pedal rest on. Mine was slightly hanging out and was causing the brake lights to stay on.
However if the rubber stopper is there, then your brake light relay may be going out, could also be a lose wire.

For the Kouki "Type-X" tail lights, could be a bad fuse in the fuse box, and or short in the wire.

Hope this helps

OH YAY, how fucking gay, lets all install our taillamps in the rain!

Fruitcake.

To the creator of this thread, its really not that hard. Do you have a voltmeter? If not, just take a bulb with some wire on both ends. Strap one wire to the chassis ground.

Now, with the other wire.. test your leads. When the parking lamps are on (first setting on your switch), you'll find one lead that has voltage - ding ding ding! Those are your parking lamps.

Now, turn off your lights. Turn your hazards on. The lead that has voltage is your signal circuit! Wow... not bad eh?

Now, have your (friend, mom, girlfriend, prostitude) go inside the car and press the brakes. If you dont have a friend, mother, girlfriend, or are too broke to get a prossi, then take a stick and force it on the brake pedal. The lead that has power is your brake 12v lead.

If you're feeling daring, you MAY.. just may want to try the reverse lamps. However, that involves putting the car in reverse with the ignition in the "ON" setting.

Best of luck BRO_ski
