I've heard from many people that the heater core replacement involves removing the entire dash.
HOWEVER, i just went to the junkyard and found a s14(with blown bags) that was missing the glove box. RIGHT BEHIND THE GLOVEBOX was the heater core, and the guy removed it in 5 minutes WITHOUT removing the DASH.
The guy didn't speak english so i couldn't grill him too much on the process, but he said it was easy. Why does everyone think the dash needs to be removed? Do they know something i don't know?
thanks!!!

He didn't pull a heater core from behind the glovebox. That's the evaporator core for the A/C.

I'm pretty sure it is the heater core. It has the lines that go through the firewall to the heater hoses. Its a black plastic box that is about 8 inches by 12 inches(just guessing) and has two alluminum fittings that go through the firewal.
r240na- if thats not the heater core, what is? thanks for the reply!

Dear God, that's an AC evaporator inside the cooling unit. The two metal fittings are for your AC lines.
The heater core is located on the box to the left of that.

I scrap them for the aluminum, it's extremely rare for one to go bad. I would keep the expansion valve though, it can take a shit if the A/C is ever opened and trash gets inside.
The heater core case is a little larger and has two plastic outlets going into rubber hoses on the firewall. There's also three door motors on the case.
I've got a heater core already out if you need it, PM me.
