I have been searching and cant seem to come up with a straight answer. Should there be a step when machining the flywheel. I have a 91 240sx DE, Exedy Stage I (in route). Some people say it has to be machined some dont. Just has the flywheel resurfaced at the machine shop. There was a step (or lots of wear?) when I took it in, and now its flat. Dont want to take this out again. What have you guys done?
Thanks again!

I needs to be machined flat and possibly balanced, take it to a Machine shop who turns brake rotors and they will turn your flywheel. Any decent machine shops and some hole in the wall auto parts stores can do it.

Some clutches require there to be proper stepping on the flywheel.

Hahaha my thoughts exactly ~ to be honest, I think the OEM clutch has more grip than the Exedy stage 1, definitely has a stiffer pedal. Anyway, as long as the machine shop made it flat/smooth, you're good to go for 90% of the clutches on the market.
