I wanted to know if there was anybody in the Bay Area, and where you guys meet. I will be going there soon, and I want to take my cousin with me so he can see a couple of 240's. So anyone that is around that area, or knows where the meets are, Please reply. That will help me a lot. Thank you. And please also give some directions, in case I dont know the place. thank you again. Peace

Well the 240SX caravan going to SoCal will be meeting in San Jose on Friday (7/26) morning 5:00 AM. Location: CalTrain station parking lot at Ford Road and Monterey Highway.
Tonight (7/25) sometime around 5 PM to 7 PM there should be a 240SX meeting at D&B's parking lot at Great Mall. Or maybe not.
Other than those, there are usually big and small meets a couple times per month.

people on the other forums are setting up some stuff. check out www.nissan-240sx.com and www.240sx.org both are trying to set something up. im from the www.240sx.org boards and there are only like 4 people from the bay area on that message board. there are plenty of bay area people on the www.nissan-240sx.com check it out.

Be advised that that's a publicized street racing meet, and the San Jose PD have been notified, according to the host of the meet. If that's not your type of meet, there'll definitely be other 240SX meets that don't draw attention from cops.

Here's the post that Danio is talking about.
NorCal 240 Meet on Aug 23 at the Great Mall (http://www.bayareastreetracing.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=988&highlight=240sx+meeting)
I think I'll show up to see the cars, but afterwards I'm not going street racing. Like Danio said, the cops will be informed of an event like this. I just hope they don't pull over any 240 that has an aftermarket muffler (basically, I'm talking about mine cuz that's all I have!
Anyway, we don't have to do everything they planned and those of us who choose to not race can hang out... maybe bring Koto too so he can get those under 21 into Dave and Busters for some Initial D arcade action? Just a thought
Danio -- I know you're planning events for the NorCal 240 owners as well as numerous others who are planning events. I suggest you contact them and find out who's going to lead this group. Having different factions is really confusing for everyone and if these "leaders" all make events on the same weekend in different locations, what does this show for our 240 unity? You've got your NI-2 group, then there's the NorCal 240 Club Owners... and another group out there.
While this might waste time... why not have those who want to lead us plan 1 event each, 1 month apart on a weekend. Then have the rest of us vote via poll on our new leader of this group? Just a suggestion tho
I know the contact on the 240sx.org listing is outdated but if we can all agree on someone to lead us, it would be great. I haven't meet the other owners, but I think you did a great job on the caravan to the convention. Maybe "joint-leaders" could be in the works. I'm just saying that it might be better to have 1 leader and 1 large group of 25+ 240 owners instead of 3-4 li'l groups consisting of 5-7 each. Just my $0.02..

By "NorCal 240 Club" you're referring to NorCal's Yahoo group, right? Or maybe it's something I don't know about. The Yahoo group seems basically inactive and it requires Yahoo membership so I'd rather we just start a new NorCal group from scratch. I'd like to take over the norcal240sx.org domain name so I can put up a mailing list with that name and make a NorCal web site, just so people can look at one URL or check their e-mails to find out about the next local meet. I'll have to contact Matt about taking that domain name. Either that or I'll register a new domain.
I personally don't think we really need a "leader". If the same 240SX people go to the different meets organized by different people, I think this "240 unity" is doing fine. :P Personally I think it's better that whoever wants to set up a meet can set one up. The main problem I see is that they're posted on different forums so only people from certain forums know about them. If we set up a web site, then all upcoming local 240SX meets info can be found in one place. And with a mailing list for local 240SX owners, coordinating meets would probably be a lot easier also. Not everybody checks up on forums, but most people check their e-mails.
Does anyone know Matt's e-mail address?

My only problem with that August 23 meet is that it's obviously a street racing meet, and I don't think that a NorCal 240SX meet should be associated with that. If we're a club or an organization or whatever that expects to grow, we shouldn't be planning or taking part in illegal stuff, especially not as a 240SX group that wants to get recognized. People can do whatever they want but if someone's gonna plan something that is against the law, for goodness' sakes don't publicize it! And especially don't give the Bay Area 240SX enthusiasts a bad rep.
Would anyone like to have a meet on the 11th or 18th? I'll be bringing my shitload of photographs from the convention (12 rolls of film used). Some of them look very nice and I'll let people pick out which ones they want large reprints of. I'll probably charge a couple dollars for each reprint, and whatever minuscule profit from that will go towards future meets. (If we ever become big enough, we'll need to reserve spaces for meets and that costs money.) A few of us were thinking of meeting inside D&B, where people can play arcades and we can all have lunch or dinner together. The problem is that people under 21 will need to be accompanied by people 25 or older, and I'm not sure how many of us are 25 or older. There are at least a couple people, but I don't know how many people under 21 each one can bring in. I'll find out though. So yah, if there's any interest for a meet on the 11th or 18th, let me know.
Also keep in mind there will be a major Z event at Ohlone College on August 4. Visit Zfest.org (http://zfest.org) for more info. It's $20 at the gate but it sounds interesting.
