I am looking to get a 240sx but I don't have much cash. I found a lady who is selling her '90 coupe for only 1100 because it doesn't run. I was thinking perfect for sr20 swap, except that the car is an automatic.
so my qusetions are how hard is it to convert the automatic to manual, if I got a sr20 front clip would I have everything to do the conversion, and has anyone done a rhd conversion, how hard would that be to do?
I am sure these questions have been asked before so any links to information would be helpfull.
thank you for looking at my post

Auto to manual swap is sort of a pain in the ass from what I've read. It can be done, but 1100 seems like a lot for a 240 that doesnt run. If the body and paint and interior are all in good oder than maybe. As for the RHD, its really not worth it. It would cost thousands of dollars, and I dunno I guess I could think of a lot better things to buy with like 5-6 grand (estimating) Hope this helps, SR swap with a broken 240 is a good way to come in. Let us know if you buy it.

Here is a link for the Tranny swap The FAQ Is A Wonderful Thing (http://www.zilvia.net/f/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=6;t=8309)
And here is a link where they talk about the RHD bennefits RHD Post (http://www.zilvia.net/f/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=1;t=13050)
Hope that helped a lil bit.

No i got it off some site. Cant remeber the name of it at the moment. Maby he got it from the same place. Well I better change it to something else since someone has it as a sig.
Edit: There is no member on this board with the screen name of HyperRex. Hmmm What board or site are you talking about?

Hmm, if you spend the 1100 on the car, then the 2500ish for the SR front clip, plus 400 in misc. parts you're up to about 4000 + the time it takes. That is if you do the swap yourself, no easy task. That is just to get the thing running. I would think about getting a 240 that runs already, I only paid 2500 for my '89 hatch and there were only a few minor problems to fix.
just my opinion.

The sr engine comes with the tranny.... rhd conversion is in my opinion is a total waste of money and doesn't achieve anything.

HyperRex is a guys that frequents (or at least used to, I haven't seen him in a while), the Velocity board (www.velocityisfaster.com).
The whole pic is a panoramic of 45deg drift down a long, barely curved road, pretty kool looking.

the lady sold her car to someone else, oh well, guess I'll have to keep on looking.
The whole reason I want a 240 is to be diffrent from everyone else. where I live, everyone rides around in there riced out hondas thinking they are pretty sweet when they can break 16's in the 1/4.
I thought going rhd would be even more unique, but if its a pain in the ass I guess its not worth it.
thanks to everyone for your help!

aw, too bad....good idea trying to be diffrent from the ricers...just today I saw a red Civic stock EVERYTHING except a banner stretched across the back windshield that says "T.U.R.B.O" and, you guessed it, a Type-R emblem...so he MUST be a turbo Type-R....ahahha....I was in my 4Runner so I could've knocked him off the road....but I was being especially nice today and just flipped him off.
