Have you checked your fuel filter? Similar thing happened to my sisters Altima, I just replaced her fuel filter, and it fired right up. If it cranks and doesn't start, then it's either fuel or ignition. Possible bad fuel pump too, but I'd start with the fuel filter first.

i'd check the starter. Sounds like there's power, but it's not igniting.. good luck

If its actually cranking the engine, and not just clicking, it probably isnt the starter.
Does sound like some sort of fuel flow problem. Guess the filter probably would be a good place to start. Unless its something else like the pump.

How good is your battery?

To me, it sounds like a battery problem, just because of the fact that it was revving high the night before. It sounds to me like your battery went out and the alternator started working overtime. Can you use all of your accessories in their full power?

I didn't want to start a whole new topic but I have almost the same problem. I have a 90 with the sohc engine, and when I first bought it it used to idle at around 700 but know my car idles from anywhere between 1000 to 2000 rpm. Also when I'm cruising in low gear like in a parking lot (you know when you're barely touching the gas pedal) my car studders bad, like I'm a driver thats never driven a stick before.

The easiest place to start is to just turn the key to the on position and leave it there. You should hear the fuel pump come on for a few secconds and shut off.

If that's good you can move on to checking fuel filter, injectors and spark.

Also starter fluid is good tool to help determine whether its a fuel or spark related problem.
