What did the NorCal folks think of the convention? &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> Most of you are still probably driving home as I'm typing this. Anyways, what did you thing? What did you like? What do you want different?

I say, SoCal can come up North if we put together a West Coast meet. &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'> &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'> &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

Met lots of people from this board. Didn't get some SN's so I'm not sure who I talked to. I guess I'll find out.

"Anyways, what did you thing?"
It was awesome!

"What did you like?"
TRACK!

"What do you want different?"
Not sure. It was such a well organized event.

I'll probably make another post later on cuz I'm too dead tired right now. :P Gotta sleep. Man it was a tiring weekend. But $#!+ that was hella fun!

I'll put my thoughts about this convention too... and a few rants I had.

I thought this was a great event! They had everything a 240 owner could ask for.

Friday -- It was an easy going activity where owners could meet, talk, have fun, and admire other 240's in the parking lot. As Alex said, 100+ cars in the Speedzone parking lot. This was a great prelude to Saturday and Sunday

Saturday -- The Nissan HQ was what I thought was the best day for everyone. (I didn't run the track, this is just an opinion) Anyway... the 300 cars that showed up (throughout the day... even Supras had to show up also) is a sight to see. The 12-15 Skylines that came didn't hurt either &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

Sunday -- I didn't stick around too long for the track event, got back to the Bay Area in 5 1/2 hrs and made it to work early (here in body, not in spirit haha) but from what I saw, it was great! I hope those that ran had fun, and guessing from Blackfox and Danio's posts, they had a great time out there too.

My rants (in no particular order)

1) The NorCal Caravan -- I think that the Altezza (a Toyota leading all the 240's? GAH?) set up a monstrous pace for us to get down there. Sure we made great time, but the fact that it was more like "racing" concerned me. I'm going to be pissed if I get a ticket in the mail from a plane who took my pic... I also think that the driver of the Altezza (dunno who was driving) never drove with a group before... just cuz you can force your way into the next lane doesn't mean the 9 cars following you can... you gotta think about sh*t like that when you drive w/ a group.

2) LA Traffic -- What can I say... when its bumper to bumper on Highways 5, 405, 60, 91, etc at 10 pm, something is just wrong. I think this would be the only place one would actually have to plan around the "less busier" times of the highways for events

3) The Weather -- I'm used to the hot days and all... but the Nissan HQ day was really warm. I think that we should have gotten Arrowhead/Aquafina to sponsor too because free water would have been nice on Saturday. The fact they charged for drinks (and no other drink alternative was present... they didn't tell us if there were any drinking fountains anywhere) reminded me of the crap people had to put up with at Woodstock '99...

Aite those are my rants... I might have more, but all I can think of now. These problems were merely a pest to the great weekend I had.

Blackfox -- You really want to suggest a convention up here?? I thought LA was a great place and Alex really showed the critics wrong. I thought that Alex had an answer for every question that came up. To be honest tho, who would have the resources/connections or the great amount of responsibility to plan an event like this. Let alone get the Drag 180sx out as well as a reservation for a racetrack? I think that Alex would be the only one. He worked hard and he deserves the praise. I think that next year's convention is in Atlanta so I hope they have something to top this year's convention.

If we were to have the event up here in NorCal, I'd think we'd do it this way:

Friday - Meet up... easy going day. Instead of Speedzone -- Malibu in Redwood City (sure its not as fun as Speedzone, but similar for racing/min-golf)

Saturday - Parking lot of DnB? DnB is always fun and if one wanted to, they could go off into the Great Mall for shopping and then dinner at DnB? More gaming of course too! We'd probably have to be out by 10 pm cuz of the ppl under 21.

Sunday - Track event at Leguna Seca (tho Monterrey from the Bay Area is atleast 2 hrs away) so how about Sears Point up in Napa? We have the flexibility of 2 tracks to choose from!!

haha How's that 'Fox? Think I covered it all? <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>
While I don't wanna plan this event... I'm hoping the NorCal 240 leader (see my other post in the "Meets & Gatherings" section) will step up and make a proposal for a future convention (kinda reminds me of the Olympic Committee taking bids for games 10 yrs from now! haha)

Yeah, Alex did a great job, as well as all the other people helping.

I think a NorCal meet is possible. Maybe in the future. When we get our stuff together &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'> &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

Sounds like a lot of fun, hmm seems to be worth the pretty much driving accross the country for someone like me. Although it would be nice to have it somewhere in the middle or on the east. I woul elect Chicago juss cuz I live there but not too much to do thats car wise, find a good place in the middle of the country with a good track.

If you guys actually went to Laguna Seca, I would actually know the track by heart, all that Gran Trurismo playing finally helped, although I am used to driving the course with 800+ HP cars or F1 cars. I'll have to bust out the 240 in the game <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

I am expecting lots of pics, and hopefully some vids of the track.

BTW who won some of the stuff, like the VLSD and Type-X Wing, it betta not been the Supra owner <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sneaky.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':pissed:'> .

If we ever do have a big NorCal event in the future, it would probably be mostly for local people, like people who can get here within a few hours of driving. For national conventions, we'll rely on Alex. =P Like Aaron said, Alex is probably the only one who can put together something like that, and that's fine by me cuz I think he did a great job.

I agree that the caravan was going kinda too fast. At 85 mph in the front, people in the back must have been going at 95 mph or so to catch up whenever other cars cut us off.
The FRS radios definitely came in handy. Oh yeah, some people borrowed them from others. We'll figure out who they need to be returned to. Well I've learned from this trip that better quality (and probably a bit more costly :\ ) FRS radios do make a difference. Mike (in the "yellow car" / Altezza) sounded really muffled whenever he talked, and Pat rarely ever responded because he couldn't even understand what anyone was saying thru his FRS. Overall it still worked out fine though.

I guess we didn't need two subgroups for the I-5 caravan, which ended up being 9 cars, if I remember correctly. Well later on we did end up designating ourselves "group 1" and "group 2" because of getting separated in traffic. Haha speaking of traffic... LA traffic is crazy! We just gave up on sticking together. =P But that was when the FRS radios really helped. It was quite an amazing sight though. So many highways all packed with cars.

Some comments on our cars... Did you all see Rudy's taillight? "Uh, I think it's water in there or something." Haha... ^o^ Koto's new shifter is very nice. Congrats to Jeff's Kate for the "Best Stock S14" title. :P Oh and riding in Pat's car at the track... Man that was hella fun. That car can turn like crazy and has so much grip. LOL so much that it couldn't do shit on the skidpad. =D

The skidpad was kinda fun but I wish they hadn't put water on it. It looked smooth and slippery enough without the water. Most of the time my front tires wouldn't grip and I ended up understeering rather than oversteering. A few people did really well on the skidpad though.

Hehheh my arms and legs are still tired. Good thing my manager let me take a day off from work today. Welp that's all the random comments I have for now. Will most likely post more later. :P

The convention was damn sweet. Alex did a damn good job! &nbsp;Saturday was pretty cool with all the skylines and such. &nbsp; But the Track event on Sunday was by far the coolest thing I have done in awhile. &nbsp;Mad props to Tatsuya Ji, I dunno if your on this board or not, but thank you so much for giving me your track spot, I owe you one.

It was also cool to meet alot of the NorCal guys as well. Dunno all of their screen names but Thanks Mike (white 96) for letting me use your helmet.

I say we setup a NorCal meet/track day. Get some SoCal guys to come as well.
