Hey,

I'm kinda new here. Well not 'new', but I havent been on here very often. I did a search but couldnt find anything so I figured Id post.

So I've been asking some people this question, but been getting incredibly mixed replies. The stock bore on a SR is 86 mm, but I accidently (dont rub it in anymore, some people have done enough of that :-/ ) ordered a 87 mm metal head gasket.

I'm kinda short on the cash flow right now, so I really dont want to buy a new one unless its neccesary.

What would happen if I still ran it?
Some people say it will still work and some people say it will be completely prone to blowing...

Wow I just answered another HG question... weird...

anyway, 1mm over is too much for comfort, but chances are it'll work. Which brand is it? I know people run Cometic's .5mm over, but that's because of the way they wrap their edges on the metal HGs or whatever. Stock boost? You should probably try to sell it, or put it up for trade (someone might have a 86.5 or 86 that they need to swap for yours).

I'm sure some of the engine builders will chime in here with more personal experience (Johngriff & Steve have posted in the past), but that's my 2 cents.

Cometic recommends running their headgaskets ATLEAST +1mm oversized. That is why most cometic gaskets you will find are 87mm or 88mm in bore.
