how to tell s13 & s14 motor apart ?

how can i tell the difference between a s13 motor and a s14 motor ?

and what is the advantage or disadvantage of getting either motor over the other ?

also is it an s13 ka24de or ka24e?

on a ka24de... look at the valvecover...

assume the valvecover has 4 sides.... in the side that is closest to the firewall, note how many bolts there are (that hold the VC onto the head)

if there are 3 bolts, its an s14, if there are 2, then its s13

You can also tell by looking at the distributor on the kade

/\ S13 kade have an external coil. S14 has only an internal coil in the distributor.
