you know, most anime i've got no problems with. i can stand almost all anime. whether the plot is good or bad or the story develeopment is great or non-existant. but for some reason. i hate Ghost In the Shell. i feel it's one of the most boring movies i've ever seen. it takes that "i'm gonna leave you in the dark" edge too far, which makes the whole movie rather hard to understand. not to mention the large chunks of time between anything interesting, which seem to be filled in with people standing perfectly still and babbling on about cliche ideals about life. i just can't stand it. sorry to make the first reply to your post a rant on the movie, but i just can't stand it...

I didn't like the movie for different reasons, but I also didn't like "X" and they made a TV show out of that and it was/is incredible!!! Hopefully this will follow in X's footsteps and be a much better series than movie.

Thanks for the heads up.
I also didn't like Ghost in the Shell the movie... but like Dr. said, maybe the TV series will be a lot better. We can all hope. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>

Its all about Azumanga Daioh...
DVD comes out next month I think, at a special 2 disk set, its freakin like 12,000 yen ($105+)! I'll probably get it anyways.
Speaking of Oshii (well, not really, its his franchise though), Patlabor III comes out on DVD in special edition, thats also like 12,000 yen! It comes in English subs though for you people that don't understand Japanese.
I personally enjoyed Ghost in the Shell, haven't read the manga originally by Shirow Masamune though, its translation from manga to big screen I heard is almost how Akira was in terms of storytelling, alot of subplots were cut out for sake of run time.
His Patlabor series, Jin Roh, and Avalon are excellent. Though I have no caught any of his earlier works like Tenshin no Tamago, Urusei Yatsura movie or his live action Jin Roh films...

they cut plots and stuff OUT of Ghost for the sake of runtime? you'd think if they did that what would be left over would be packed into the time... seems to me they were struggling to fill the two hours. i dunno, i just plain hated it.. i'm a sucker for lighter anime, usually, so that doens't help. ranma, trigun, cowboy bebop...
