a buddy and me were talking about making the trip to d1gp in englishtown nj from myrtle beach sc. its a 10-13 hour trip depending on how spirited u drive. i was all about it till i started to think: i have a t68 top mount with supporting mods on a s13 black top running meth, power fc and all the fun lil gadgets u can strap on my car is a s14.5 bye the way. anyway i told him id have 2 really think making the trip with my car. i dont daily drive the car to begin with nore have i ever thought about driving it 13 hours 1 way. i usually trailor the car to the drag strip thats 1 hour away. its just cheep insurance on getting home. so i guess my question is would u attempt the trip or would u rent a car to make the trip 2 be safe.
if u were to make the trip what would u do to pull as lil wear on the car?

A guy from connecticut drove his car to qualify in florida. Not a high hp car but he drove all the way there, ripped it, and drove back home.

id be driving to watch not compete. nj is my home area(born). so when i herd there was one i was so excited to make the treck. im just worried something stupid will happen or that i turned the car into a weekend car(more suited 4 track) i have a daily driver and all i could use but whats the point of having a car if u cant drive it. not saying ill be doing 60-150 pulls the whole way but i know a few pesky vets or gtos or even a few business men in there amg benzes are always looking 4 a bit of action.

I love Jersey too. Make sure your car is in tip top shape and you should have a wonderful trip. Change fluids, cleanup any loose items, and keep the "action" on the track. Drive with a friend, let him or her drive, and stop every 2 hours for a stretch.

Drive it like a normal car and it should work like one. Drive slow, 70tops. Better gas mileage anyway.

honestly leave it the way it is! dont drive it hard and it should co-operate.

You will be fine, as long as your car is in good condition and isnt having issues. You don't have to worry about you tune or your WG spring/boost settings. If you are on the highway you shouldn't really be in boost, unless you are really getting on it. Just drive safe, and don't drive it like a bat out of hell. And do all you maintance before hand a little bit to make sure its all good to go before you leave.

It is always a good idea to have some basic tools in the car just incase. which isnt hard to do, considering you could almost take the car a part with such a small amount of tools.

I plan to drive my 240 to montana this summer, and that is about the same distance as you are going. I have no concerns with it. I will probably hit up the drag stip or auto-x events while I am there.

hopefully you have good gas stations with primo gas along the way...

if your car runs fine, it shou;dn't have a problem on long drives neither. the only time it should be considered is if you plan on other things while driving up there. high or low hp, if you act stupid or horse around, then something probably will happen.

My concern would be heat with the topmount setup. Make sure that your brake master cylinder reservoir is protected, among other parts.

as you said earlier, your worried about little things....well those are the things that happen usually no matter what. so whether your going to the corner store or driving across the country, imho theres nothing to stop the little things from happening they just do. just do your best keeping the upkeep on the car and engine and it should be fine. if something happends its probably because it would have happened anyways. know wha ti mean?

As long as your car has been well maintained and well tuned, i dont see why there should be a problem... When you stop for gas just pop your hood and take a gander around to make sure nothing is wrong.

I routinely make the trip to Vegas from LA in my other car (325whp, 3SGTE, AEM standalone, supporting mods) which I almost NEVER drive otherwise and have never had a problem. Other than people asking me all weekend "Hey man, what kind of car is that??" Granted its only a 3 hour drive, but its a lot more than the car is used to.

i drove my highly modifed nissan skyline gtr r33 from jersey to Vir in virgina, 8 hours put pushing hard, jjust check everything that can go wrong before you leave, have your triple a card and also bring a toolbox with common fix problem tools. Bring wrenches and stuff youll be ok. Change your fluids/check them.

I would assume it would be fine to drive there ,but will it be safe once it gets there? From car thieves that is.
