ok im wiring up an amp to my cd player and everyone tells me to wire the remote turn on wire to the blue wire which is 12V whenever the ignition is on. But i was looking at the wiring harness and it has a light green wire which the stock amps used to control thier on off state. So my question is which one should i go with? If i go with the blue, my amp isnt goign to be on even if my cd player isnt right? Thanks

not quite sure what you were asking...just use a volt meter to determine which is your remote wire then connect that to the remote on your amp...if i can make out the question you were asking then...in most cases your amp will be on if your car is on...i don't see how this is a problem...there are a few whose amp will turn off if you turn your head unit off...either way shouldn't be a problem...hope this is some help...peas

what a coincidence (sp?) ...i've been installing a new system as well.
Ok, dont listen to ANYONE or those SHITTY diagrams!!!! Those diagrams that come with the aftermarket wire harnesses are lying bastards.
Mine had me hooking power wires up to speaker wires..best way to do it is with a volt meter.
If that green wire is the REM stock...then use it.  I just found that out partly because of your post.  Now i have beautiful clear music.
Good luck.

hehe, on my '92 I started w/ the blue antenna wire, but there is no power when I listen to a cd, so simming over the wires on the harness I see a blue one with a white stripe labelled &quot;P Control&quot; Though all I could think about is the song Pussy Control by Prince, I tried it anyhow and it works great. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

Yea... a DMM is your only friend when it comes to guess work... if anyone is trying to get a power antenna in an S14 I can help ya out too!! &nbsp;I couldn't handle my fucking standard antenna on a $25k car!! That's just lame!!

Use the blue wire with the white stripe on the back of the cd player. &nbsp;This way the amp will only be on when the cd player is on. &nbsp;Depending on what kind of amp you have and how you have the gains set you may hear noise if the amp is on but nothing is playing. &nbsp;This is bad and shouldn't happen but often times does. &nbsp;The only time you don't use the remote wire on the deck is if you are wiring up multiple amps. &nbsp;If you are hooking up a lot of amps. 4 or more then DON'T use this wire. &nbsp;It will be too much of a load and burn out the remote turn on in the cd player.

IF you really get stuck you can cheat. &nbsp;In the S14 fuse panel there is a circuit marked audio. &nbsp;(check your owners manuel.) &nbsp;just run the wire under the carpet to the panel and pick one side of the fuse, wrap the wire around one of the spades and plug it back in. &nbsp;I was in a rush for a show when I set my last system up and did it this way. &nbsp;It worked so well that I was to lazy to break the dash back open and rerun the wire. &nbsp; &nbsp; BTW it is supporting a JL 300x2 running 2 JL 12w0's &nbsp;and never had a problem. &nbsp;Some cars have a low end feedback if you try to turn the radio off when the engine is running but the S14 has a good enough ground system that i have never had a problem.

DO NOT DO THAT!!!! &nbsp;I don't know who the first guy was to do this and then show all his friends and now everyone knows but if I saw him I'd slap him till my hand was a broken, bloody, stub. &nbsp;My freind loves doing this and it's not smart. &nbsp;2 things can happen depending on which side of the fuse you use. &nbsp;
1) The fuse will blow because of the added load therby making you put in a bigger one. &nbsp;In which case if the amp isn't on and something happens to the wire the fuse is supposed to operate it may not blow the fuse and catch stuff on fire.
2) There will be no fuse for the remote wire as it is running off the hot side and if something happens to this wire, poof a toasted marshmallow for a car.

Run the wire off the remote wire like you are supposed to. &nbsp;It is 12V but has very low amperage and also has protection circuitry built in the deck thereby not allowing your car to catch on fire.

kikz19, whoever showed you this little trick is not too bright and don't listen to them. &nbsp;If you discovered this on your own then I want to follow these instructions:

Raise your right hand (unless you are a lefty) until it is head high. &nbsp;Clinch your fingers tightly to form a fist. &nbsp;Now pummel your head repeatedly until you lose consiousness. &nbsp;When you regain consiousness repeat the proceedure until you have finally knocked some sense into yourself.

you say it IS safe to run more then one amp off the one REM wire from my cd player right? &nbsp; I'm running the factory amps and my amp for my subs off of it. &nbsp;Everythings working great, no blown fuses, no shorts.

I just wouldn't run more than 4 amps of the head units remote.
