Only the GT-S were RWD, and i don't know if the GTS was still RWD in 88

Nope, the GT-S went FWD in 88. That's when they stopped being hachiroku, and became kyuu ni (92). At least iirc.
I could be wrong though. And just to let you know, an SR5 corolla isn't a hachiroku, in case you see one. (think Itsuki from Initial D.)

i thought all the corollas became FWD in '87. also, aren't the SR5's also RWD?

i think the only rwd corolla is the 1 with 2 doors coupe or the 1 with 3 doors where the third 1 is the hatch. other than that is only fwd if i m not mistaken.. correct me if i m wrong.

Yes, the SR5's from 84-87 are RWD, however they're not considered a "hachiroku" because they're technically the "hachi go" (85).

I think it is a SOHC. Its really hard to find a Hachi Roku. I looked around for a while, absolutely NONE on autotrader.com in my area. Oh well guess its time for project buy a 260Z and get it running for my daily driver <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

I see that all too often. In fact, my first question on this board was if all 240's were rear-wheel or only certain models. After searching for them on Autotrader, I found that 1/3 of them were listed as FWD. Boy, did I feel stupid.

The SR5s are SOCH. Itsuki does have a Levin. The body styles of the Levin and Trueno are the same for the SR5 and the hachiroku, the difference is under the hood. So you can have a Levin or Trueno and have either the SOCH or DOCH, depending on which model you found.
Summary:
Pop-up headlights = Trueno
non-popup = Levin
SR5 = SOCH 85(hachigo)
GT-S = DOCH 86(hachiroku)
1984-87 = Years the hachiroku was made
