There will be a box inline with your brake lines on the passenger side of your firewall. If oyu dont have it, then the brake lines will run from the master cylinder along the firewall, and just go directly under your car from there with nothing else in line.

Please tell me you can feel abs kick-in when you drive it. Sorry to be so harsh. And if you cant drive it harder:hahano:

As mentioned earlier, if you have ABS, there will be a box with a bunch of brake lines coming out of it mounted near the firewall on the passenger side. However, I don't think ABS was an option until 1991.

umm step on the fucking brakes hard one day and see if the petal goes to the floor and makes a clonking noise as it pumps itself or if the wheels lock up?????? Do I need to explain whether you have ABS or not in relation to the cars reaction or can you figure that one out? sorry about the stupid answer, but stupid questions.........

maybe it's just me, but don't ABS-equipped cars have ABS warning lights? i don't think zenki's had it offered, either.

in any case, s13 ABS is poop, don't touch . use (begin gay initial d reference) human ABS (/end gay reference).

actually i think zenklis did offer ABS - its just rare. its huge and aluminum with all sorts of a mess of lines - if u have it YOU WILL SEE IT in front of the wiper motor... if u miss it - theres something wrong with ur eyes - its a big ole sloppy mess - o - junk :D

x2. My car has HICAS and I always thought it had ABS until someone pointed out to me that the ABS cars had a huge ass MBC looking thing on the passenger side.

Actually ABS was indeed an option in 89.

I agree with drift freaq, my 89 had abs. There is an easier way to tell if your car has abs. It tells you on the brake pedal. Usaully a cirle with the words abs something something. That should go for all cars.

Someone may have removed it, like I did on my HICAS car. AFAIK, ABS was included in the HICAS "handling package". LSD, ABS, 4WS, closer ratio rack, thicker rear sway bar and supposedly different shocks, but I can't confirm that one.

Hmm that might be a possibility. On the gauge cluster, i have a bulb missing on the lower left hand corner. It's the middle bulb, and maybe it was removed so for the warning light wouldn't bug anyone.

Hmm i'm gonna have to look into it now.

just look

trying to test on a "rainy" road could spell disaster if you dont expect what is about to happen. And the pedal feel, it works to an extent, but if you have worn brakes you can feel a "pulsation" with a non-abs car and trick yourself

Just adding more information to the picture posted above..... If the master brake cylinder has two hardlines coming out of it, as you can see in the picture above...you have abs if not you will find three hardlines coming out of the master brake cylinder.

its call a abs distribution block - and ur supposed to follow the FSM when u do anything - but with those - most cars - u hit the brake pedal like 50 times to be sure theres nothin left in ht ebooster, then (again most cars) u use a scantool to actual all the jawns inside the block so u can take it apart without it spraying 2500psi hyd fluid - peircing into your skin gettin in ur blood stream and fuckin you up real bad since hyd (brake) fluid is hygroscopic and absorbs all th ewater it touches -- brake fluid in a ey e-- NOT FUN

That's the ABS actuator and I've taken it off my car a dozen times without any negative effects.

I'd be more worried about dropping that thing on my foot than I am about 2 billion PSI piercing my skin and all.

Word of advice: when you take of the actuator make sure you don't lose the copper o rings.

ABS actuator. It's also called an ABS pump.
