Speaking of Baller Wheels

Well all of this talk of Baller wheels and the thread that got locked had me decide to get some wheels today:eek2:

The are Wiser Wheel Company. You can't read the size Tag anymore but the guy told me they are 17"x9" +10 Interesting size. He also said he didn't think they would fit on the 180. I wish they were +20's. I haven't decided if I will keep them or sell them yet, maybe a good track wheel for now :)

Now for the bad news. One of the wheels has a gash from a Curb. Can anyone tell me if this can be fixed? He was only selling 2 wheels...

They're either 2 peice or 3 peice, due to the rivets.

Three piece would mean - 1 inner wheel, 1 out lip, 1 center section. Once tires are removed you'd see silicone in the middle, but you should be able to tell by looking at hte back of the wheel.

Point being- if they're three peice, you can replace that out lip on it's own from somewhere like Kodiak ( Kodiak (http://www.kodiakracingwheels.com/shells.html)), at the same time chosing a different size to get a different width and offset if you prefer.

But, hard to tell from the picture, as long as the tire sits in the bead that is just superficial damage to the lip, should have no real effect on holing air or safety...I just smoothed out my small knicks with sandpaper, then polished, then you should re-clear (but I didn't, just polish then every so often) - BAM- like new.

P.S. I'm running 17*9 +35 rears (-2.5 camber) with tons of space. Around +15 might be flush on my car (s13 hatch) as it's set up (camber). Also - 215 on a 9" is crazy. I have 235's with some stretch, and will consider 245's next time around as well. Up to you, I'm not that hardcore...most here would disagree with me...although that 215 stretch may help them fit "flush" with minimal modification - throw them on, judge, then go from there...

you cant tell if its 2 or 3 piece just by looking. gotta take it apart. some wheels are 2 piece welded, with the front lip and face welded together, and the back barrel unbolts.

We just need to adjust the camber, stock arm adjustment with a little slam they will tuck. Stick with 215 or max 225 and they will be ok. Actually, they will look like my Stich.

So I know now that they are 2 piece, didnt give a shit until Mr Midwest, I know someone in Japan who can send me wheels called them out as cast 1 piece knockoffs....Here is a pic of where the face is joined, also in the wheels are serial numbers and a stamp of date made...looks like Aug 95 for these..anyway the bright side is I don't need anyone to send me wheels from Japan, I shit Onigiri everyday...:coold: :cool:

The gash is repairable by a reputable rim shop here in Japan. It will cost about 10,000 yen. The rim will balance out. It was used by a drifter with a S14, slid and hit the curb a little. He has XT 7 Work Emotions now. The guy owns a rim shop and had them for sale. They are 9 +10. Alot of guys use the "GTR" offset here for the dori sha. 9+10~+22. There are alot of mesh rims, but we pay for the nice ones. I paid a lot for my Stich mesh. 8+5 for the front and 9+11 for the rear in 17 dia.

These rims are nice. I almost bought them for myself.

I probably have better command of the Japaese language than you do English; but that was not the point I am trying to prove. Maybe if you read, you will learn a little of the car culture that we possess here, and yes, that includes words you mentioned. I am not the type of person that feels like the bigger man because I know something. There is always another person out there that I can learn from. Actually, I typed it in Romanji (you forgot the "N" do you even know why it is called that?) Next time I can type in Kanji katagana and hiragana if you like. I think it would be harder to translate though. Babblefish and Google do not provide accurate discrptions of the characters.

I was actually in "Nihon" a few years or so back and the prize cars to have there were USDM, such as chevy capri's and impalas. So I guess I should say while those guys are all freaking posers just dreaming of USDM life I live it because I have a 67 impala rusting at a friends house because I have so much money I can just let it waste away right?

those = alot of money to get to normal, for the fact that its a chrome face, and they are pitted horribly... and lets assume all 4 are pitted, your looking at about 150-200 per center to acid bathe (to strip) and then to rechrome (trust me, i've done this, it sucked).... not to mention the salt pits that you cant see in the pics that probably rash the entire dish..so get your DA and get sanding

those = maybe 600 a set in that condition and size, remember kids, from my sightings and experience, audaciously sized wheels arent worth dick in japan, only to fanboys like myself who spend a worthless 900 bucks modding and repainting my fenders buy those...
