Installed my cusco diff and SPL subframe spacers about 2 months ago and have had a slight whine around 45-60 ever since... then it goes away and comes back around 80.
Also I get pretty bad clunkage ONLY when I turn right an give it a lil gas. Left feels fine. Whats up with the right turn only clunk? And I thought Cuscos were supposed to be quiet? thats why I bought it over a Kaaz.
The last guy that had the diff said he had only very slight roughness around corners and no whine with 75w90 oil.
I tried bolting the flanges on different but it still makes the noises. The flange on the right side does not bolt perfectly though... it seems the holes are off by like 1mm on one of the flanges so the flanges are no perfectly flush... with the star pattern. Could that be a problem?? Do your guys' flanges match up perfectly?
Im using 75w140 redline fluid. What fluid do people usually use in their cuscos to keep them quiet?

Well, the whine noise is probably due to your subframe spacers. Has the whine been there since the beginning? You mention that you installed your stuff 2 months ago which is implying this problem didn't occur before...
About clucking on only one direciton of turn....where are you testing this? I know on American roads...left turns are wider than right turns....lol. That's my best guess on that one. Just want to check if you're testing them with the same turning radii on the L & R.

It's a 2-way, they clunk, whine & ratchet. I have the same diff & use the same fluid. It just takes some getting used to...

If I'm going straight my cusco 2 way will clunk if I turn the steering wheel 2 inches in either direction

you should probably swap it with an open diff wrapped in 50 pounds of dyna matt.

well I just thought it was kinda weird it would be whining when I have never heard complaints about whining from a 2way and that it only clunks when turning right... And yes I have turned left all different ways. The clunking occured right after install....

The diff might be built on a 100% lockup. On Cusco diffs you can order them with a 60% initial lockup and it wouldn't make that noise. You can also mix the diff oil with Redline Heavyshockproof oil. As for turning right...NORMAL :D

What LSD's can you use Synth with? Cause I know Kazz says not to.

I can only vouch for Cusco. You can use syn oil with theirs.

^I was thinking it was built more aggressive... I think ill try the shockproof oil next.
So all LSDs only make that noise when turning right an not when turning left?

The whining is either improper gear lash or the usage of mix matched pinion/ring gears. I know because mine whines due to my laziness of NOT using the original ring gear.

Also did you make sure that you broke it in properly if it was brand new? Mz's are louder than rs' if you are comparing cusco's. Plus 2 way's are supposed to be rough and tough.

I'll say this, with my 2 way, I found the best fluid to keep the clunking and noise down, by far and wide, is this oil right here:
http://www.frsport.com/Cusco-010-001-L01-80W-90-AP1-GL5-LSD-Oil-for-Rear-AWD-and-RWD-1-Liter_p_14401.html
I usually change it once a year. I've tried 6 other oils, I've had the best luck with this one.
