I am swapping a s13 redtop into my 95 240. I am ready to start the car, it cranks and cranks but doesnt fire. I have no spark and idk bout fuel, but i want to solve the spark problem. I have reset the timing and checked the battery. I am ordering new spark plugs today.
I am pretty sure the ignitor and coilpacks are good, i am a little worried about the harness i made. I followed the common write up of the "s13 sr into s14" has anyone had any problems with this writeup?? Also im not sure i got the different gauge for the wires right? Would that cause problems?
I am just asking for some things to look for, and yes i have searched, all the threads are CAS, or they swapped something out and it works, but the problem with that is i dont have any friends that have a SR so i cant test a ecu, ignitor, or anything.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

make sure your fuel lines are ran correctly. how did u test for spark?

pulled the coilpack and used this spark tester, its basically a spark plug that has teeth on it and u ground it and look for spark. i also put one of my spark plugs in the coilpack and grounded it. i am ordering new spark plugs cuz these ones are pretty beat but i highly doubt thats my problem.

if you need help - i can come help u - im in king of prussia...
1st make sure the coil pack harness is grounded, all the coils have 12ish volts on the middle wire - and theres continuity throughout the wiring for the trigger wires from coilpack to the igniter... also check that you have reference, gnd, 12v and a signal from the CAS. And then be sure that the igniter to ECU wiring is right - i believe cyls go like this in order 1-pin1 2-pin2 3-pin8 and 4-pin9 - and remember that the pin 1 is in the 2nd set of wires from the left -
pm me or IM me if u need anything.

check your cam and crank sensors too. if one or both are shot or wired wrong you will not get spark because the ecu wont see a signal that the motor is being turned over. i have never worked on a sr but a engine is an engine.

um... CAS = cam angle sensor
there is no specific crank angle sensor - the cam sensor does the job of both.

thanks guys...theres some confusion in these posts, there is only one thing that does both jobs, but its the crank angle sensor not cam.. and i dont think i could have messed up the wiring for it seeing as i didnt do any wiring for it.
smelly you want to help me out more with how to check to see if i am getting power from the ECU to the ignitor cuz thats kinda where i wanna start.
thanks again

the sensor is th one that goes into ht eside of the head and has a helical gear adjoining the exhaust camshaft... that is the crank angle sensor (also referred to as th ecam angle sensor due to it adjoining the camshaft in rotation).
check that sensor first - but the ignitor is another thing that often goes bad - as a matter of fact i just changed mine today.

how do i check to see if theres power even getting to my ignitor?

I know what the CAS is and already inspected it

gracias por le posto doble... Check cintinuity first from the wires going to the ignitor from the ECU - u can crank th emotor over and you should see voltage changes from them once every other rotation. USE A DIGITAL MULTIMETER... using an analog voltmeter on anything hooked to the ECU (solid state computer parts) will kill the ecu and you'll definately need one of those - check continuity with a DMM/DVOM as well. it should have a beep function if u have a decent one - it'll beep if u have continuity... I PM'd you my AOL and phone # if u need anything.
