Okay, my car reaks of gear oil. I bought it and it smelled. I didnt mind it at first but it seems to be getting worse. I havent had a car with lsd before so please dont bitch at me for being a noob. I was told that it smells when you need to change the diff oil. but im gogin to go as far as change the carpet out in the car, and change the oil in the diff. I just wanted to know if anyone else had problems with there cars smellin like shit, andn what do they do to fix it or whatnot. I mean I wouldnt mind, but my friends and girls dont even want to go in the car because the smell gives them headaches and makes them sick.. Plus I think it would be funny, to hear random advice on the issue, cause I know some people have smelly cars.

If you spilled gear oil on the carpet, the smell will never go away. rip it out.

Have you checked to see if the boot for the shifter on the tranny was sealed or torn? I had the same problem after I changed my clutch and forgot to ziptie the rubber boot to the shifter. Tranny smell is ok with me. Coolant smell is not.
