Do FMIC kits come with all the piping you need for an SR? Or do you need the stock piping also? If they come with everyhting you need what are some decent inexpensive kits that would allow me to run 12-14psi?

The Greddy and HKS kits come w/ everything you need minus BOV to get your turbo breathing cooler air.  I am now inquriing about the Apex'i intercooler kit for the silvia.  it's not as big as the greddy but good enought to support up to 300hp levels.  The greddy is a beast and I have heard great things about it from many but the cost is steap ($859 @ enjuku) when the Apex'i comes in a reasonable $600.  The choice is yours or you can have spearco custom fab you one and have a shop w/ mandrel bending apparati do it for you.

How much does the HKS kit run? What have you heard of it? Also with a FMIC do you HAVE to run a BOV? My budget is very short to start with but instead of buying a SMIC i figured I'd try and go straight to FMIC. Whats the highest boost you can run on a stock S13 SR with the stock intercooler? 9psi? And about 14psi with a good FMIC? What kind of HP numbers would 14psi make?

1. HKS fmic
haven't heard much about it but it is rated up to 400hp and has a bar and fin design and they have a ton of apps including the s13 price is about the same as the greddy but everyone raves about the greddy so I like to go w/ proven product when spending close to a grand
2. It's reccomended that you run a BOV a couple of guys on the board here have said that it's not necessary ::not quite sure about the logic though:: It keeps down surge from excess boost going to the turbo and prolongs turbo life but hell if you want to spend $500-1000 on a new turbo instead of $150-200 on a BOV off e-bay knock yourself out
3. Daily driven SR can see like 10psi w/ the SMIC but I have that as the high setting on my BC and only run it when its cool out and keep the boost stock on the low setting.  W/ a FMIC 14psi is doable but you are near the max of the t25 and will see about 240-250hp depending on other mods ie cams,exhaust,intake,ecu,downpipe... blah, blah, blah

Hey thanks for the great info nrcooled. I think I've decided to go with the SMIC and spend the extra money on a nicer downpipe, and exhaust and get a boost controller and maybe a BOV with the SMIC.
