RS*R just launched their new site yesterday. Fresh to death man, the layout, navigation, and overall feel of it is pretty amazing.

http://www.rs-r.com

But it's not just a new website that's the big deal. The most innovative thing that RS*R has done has opened up sales directly to the public. It's a very unconventional method of a manufacturer but is great for the customer, since typically customers these days know what they want and are just concerned with where to get it.

If you take a look at their site store, you'll notice that they don't list very many products, but that's not because they discontinued it, but they only list what's IN STOCK. That makes it easier for everyone, and keeps you from those "oh crap" situations.

RS*R Sports*I Coilovers

From their website:
Finally available in North America RS-R has released the first of their coilover systems. Built with Ti2000 coil springs (Titanium composite) and 36-way dampening adjustability are just some of the benefits of this system. Ride height is also adjustable not only by spring height, but shock body length as well to give you the opportunity to put just the right amount of preload on the springs for added balance. But what coilover system would be complete without upper mounts. Specifically design for the street enthusiast in mind, these upper mounts have polyurethane bushings to reduce unwanted road noise and feel, for a smoother drive on the street, without completely sacrificing performance on the track. Everything starts with this, and the Sports I shocks are what every enthusiast should have.

These are super new so I have no personal experience with them, but it's another GOOD quality option, and its great because for all the features, its priced in a good price range (~$1499). 100% Made in Japan, so you know you ain't getting no garbage.

Good to see Japanese manufacturers putting in that work and effort rather than a half hearted effort.

So go to their website and check it out! The map navigation section and the flash screen of their website is cool, super interactive.

They don't ONLY sell retail.

You can still buy this from dealers, who will obviously not charge you full pop.

Due to their current structure though, I doubt if dealers will whore it out like I've previously seen on the Exmag.

Why is the rear like that, it appears that it's reducing shock travel and height adjustability w/ the bracket.

Seems like it's more for street usage. It even used polyurathane bushings instead of pillowball mounts.

Yes, according to RS*R they chose the polyurethane because it creates less noise and improves comfort for the street. That being said, the coilover is a street setup coilover, it is not to be a full blown race coilover.

There is a rumor however that they MAY create pillowball upper mounts as an option, but I doubt any weekend racer / daily driver would be able to tell the difference.

As far as the rear S14 coilover goes, the purpose of their design was for better function. If you look at other brands of S14 rear coilovers, there's a ton of collar space that is unused anyway, so just because its designed like this doesn't mean that it won't go low enough. If they really wanted they could've made a super long threaded body like all the other brands but I guess this was their personal design preference. There isn't any lateral movement on the shock body anyway so not like it's structurally any different than other brands.

Nah son you're trippin.

Like I said in my og post, whatever is shown is what's IN STOCK. Whatever is not shown is out of stock. That doesn't mean its discontinued.

S14 Exmag is coming in soon, don't you worry.

w/ that design the total shock length is reduced, maybe reduced travel? I don't know for sure, other coilovers just might have alot of void space inside the shock space so this design might not be really taking away from the shock travel. This way def. seems to reduce a bit of weight, cool design.

Yeah, if you disassemble other S14 shocks, its just void space. No way a shock body would be that long hehe...we ain't jumpin sand dunes and getting sweet air.

RS*R also did it to limit the range so that people didn't over raise or over lower (if that's even a word) their coilover.

haha bump for rs-r. like the first time the i-shock came out, they pulled out because it was too much of a full race coilover. dood you guys shouldn't worry about the poly bushing at the bottom. many other quality and crappy brands use this same setup. they made changes for the consumer, not just for themselves.

Its too bad that they used "dampening" in their product description. :mepoke: I wonder who is writing their ad literature...

Anyhow, I look forward to hearing reviews of these. I find it interesting that they use 8/7 kg/mm spring combo. I use this combo on my stances on my coupe and like it best.

My only gripe about their coilovers is 36way adjustability. Who the fuck needs that? Its barely useable. Give us 4-8 way adjustable quality dampers on a coilover and call it a day.

Look decent, but only time will tell.
