Okay I did search but to no avail
I was wondering what you guys did for adjusting the size of a stock boot to fit a short throw shifter. since the short throw is shorter, how much boot would need to be eliminated?
I'm asking cause the Redline boots from here on Zilvia offer boot shortening for short shifters. I have an OBX (no flaming!!) shifter and I'm thinking 1.5" off the stock size would be adequate. I would just match up the old shifter to the nex one and measure but I threw the old one away a while ago so now I'm stuck.
What have you guys done if anything? Unless maybe someone has the stock shifter length from end to end just laying around??
Thanks.

I made a couple new leather boots for mine by cutting the stitching on the old one and making a stencil. I have a B&M short throw and I made the new ones identical to the original so it sags a little more with a short shifter. It's not a big deal to me. I guess if you wanted less material just play around with some cheap clothe until you get the design that you want.
Edit: Since you threw the old one away, I suggest you go to a junk yard unless they want as much as a new one. Better yet, just buy a new one.
WTF? last time I looked at the B&M and OEM they were exactly the same lenght for the shift lever, only the part that goes into tranny is different.
But I did the same as sncs14, actually I made my GF do it :D

This may not help you, but it may help those with S14s.
I have confirmed that the shift boot on S13 and S14 are interchangeable. They both have the same size base plate and will bolt onto either console.
What I noticed is that the S14 boot sits a little higher up. On an S13, the S14 boot would sag a bit. On an S14, presumably the S13 boot will sit lower down.
I took an S14 shift boot and installed it on my S13 to see if it fits, and that's what I found. Give it a shot and see if it works out for you.

well, thanks anyways guys but so far none of this stuff really pertains to my dilemma.
I'm not planning on making my own since I really like the Redline boots (had them for my S14 :) ) And they're not expensive for what you save in time and labor.
So I'm just going to go with a 1.5" reduction in boot length and live with it. Should fit fine.
Thanks again.
