Hey,

I have been looking at some buddy club wheels to set off my suspension on my project 240SX. Well, i am looking for some 17X8 wheels so i can fit 235/40/17's all the way around (I autocross so i need an equal width tread all around).

Well, the wheels that i want (Buddy Club P1-Racing) come in 17X8 but with a 32 offset. I have heard that 35 offset is recomended with 17X8 wheels. Will the 32 cause problems in the front or rear?

Thanks

the wheels i have have a +35 (or 42, i can't remember) offset, and i have no problems so far.  but they're both 17 x 7's, so i don't think i can relate, unless i'm wrong.

also, i've been told that 17's are a bit too big for autoX'ing.  i was told that the best (for a S13 FB) r some 16 x 7/7.5/8(?) with 235/40/16's.

btw, nice choice.  can't tell, but r those gunmetal/hyper black?  they look prty sweet.

Yea, 17's are kinda big for autocrossing, but i am also building up this car for the local track that just opened up.

Does anyone else know if this will fit alright? i used to have a webpage saved that explained offset, but i cant find it anymore.

They also have a +42 offset. Would this fit better? Would i need to roll the front fenders for this?

just remember this.  offset is the distance from the imaginary centerline of the wheel (cross-section) to the mounting surface.  lower numbers will make your wheel sit out further, giving you a wider track.

here's a good offset calculator (http://toy4two.home.mindspring.com/offset.html)

if you have 15x6" +40mm (OEM) and you go to 17x8" +32mm, you will lose 17mm on the inside and it will stick out 33mm more on the outside.  personally, i think this setup would be absolutely perfect.  get it and make me jealous.  i have 17x7" +40mm and i can't wait to get something better.

Food for thought:

1)  7.5" is max wheel width allowed in STS.  What class are you planning on running?

2)  Why drop the money on JDM when you can get Kosei K-1's?

3)  17's don't offer any benefits over 16's on tracks either.  More weight, worse gearing.  They suck all the way around.
