does anyone have a double din installed on an s13. ive seen tons of s13 pics but i havent came around one with a double din. i wanted to do this really bad but im not sure if it would work. i dont want to get a pop out one cause it will cover my digital climate control. well i would like to see some pics off an s13 with a 2din or even both dcc and 2din.

They're pretty common. Any Best Buy or Circuit City carries them.

That's true but it depends on how you mount it. If it is mounted behind the center console plate then probably not. But if you mount it more forward so that it is flush then it should fit.

Why do you need a DVD player in your car? You can't watch while you drive. :loco:

If you want to watch TV, stay home. That's how people get killed, some ignorant fuck trying to watch Options videos while driving.

actually i had one in my s13 for about week, and hten i got offered more than i paid so i sold it
THey fit great, no porblems. THe PIONEER with the 6 disc dvd changer build in is a really tight fit, but it fits
As far as why to have it.
Trackdays, in between rounds if the track is too big to see it all, passengers on trips
Music video CDs, etc etc etc
There are valid reasons to have it, I dont watch it while i drive but my wife does in her VW where i have a pioneer flip out

Also, Note that your firewall slants behind the dash. Measure your backspaceing at the top and bottom. Alot of those DVD units are deep.

ive got a pioneer avid-d2 in my s14, i use it for navigation. although not really, it looks cool. they are very deep, and heavy. i dont see why it wouldnt fit in an s13. i say go for it if you get a good deal on one.
if you want mine ill sell it to you. it retailed for 1650 last year

i been thinking.. get one of those cheap personal dvd player things.. hack/ it open.. install lcd screen in your glove box, make surrounding trim panals out of fiberwood, paint it black or something.. a/v cable to ur headunit, mount the dvd disc player portion itself somewhere else.. and us stereo headunit in a aux mode.. try to get this one for $25 on the amazon deal

poor mans dvd entertainment for the passanger...
by all means i wouldnt use it to watch myself when im driving, it would purely be entertainment for the ladies when they ride in ur ultra loud bouncing /tires squealing cuz of your 2way lsd clunking rattling interior 240sx of a car hahah
From the SEMA show pics thread:

Complete with cocaine sniffing glass table!
But yeah, double DIN's are f-ing baller - if there's one that offered Car PC input ports, you could run a diagnostic program on it to have real time gauges on it.
Whatever suits your taste.

I have been wanting to install a double DIN in my S13. I see kits only for S14 cars. If anyone has a double DIN in an S13, how did you install it beyond removing the pocket below the single DIN headunit? Can you use the S14 install kit?

you remove the regular headunit and "cup" and replace it with the double DIN unit.
then you put it back in.
SO simple that Id id mine myself (and I suck at cars)

its a pretty simple and straight forward thing to do, most 240 owners arent really into sound quality and whatnot and the ones who are, bitch that they cant hear their 2k dollar speakers over their ebay straight pipe.
idk. if its a show car or a daily its really nice to have, ive got a double din dvd in my daily, but if its a track car then its a waste

do you drive your track car to the track and then drive it home? if so then it makes sense, but i tow my car on a trailer behind an f250 so i dont need a double din dvd in it. ive got a radio in it because it is still regestered tagged and insured to be on the street but on track days i tow it incase something breaks on it.

I don't get it... I honestly don't see the point of having these fancy double din units installed in our S14/S13's especially if you track these bad boys... After all the engine mods and along with the our 3" fart cans, you can hardly hear the tunes. I just like to keep it simple.

my exhaust is under 93 decibles and my stereo sounds great. but its still a simple setup. infiniti kappa reference speakers and a simple alpine head unit i got for free.
and this is in my track car

Pioneers are a tight fit because all the plugs are on the bottom. Mine is literally against the firewall and I had to caress it in. I don't even want to pull it back out to install sat radio.
As far as having a radio in a 240... I have a sub $500 setup and can drown out any noise I want (sometimes a bad thing) but why would you? I can have crisp clear tunes and still hear my car, what could be better?
