yes i know another shifter thread
i searched and found a couple of threads talking about ver. 1, but nothing on 2
i'm in the marked for a shifter and i dont want a B&M, mostly because of the price (yes i know how B&M is praised everywhere)
any feedback on these, it looks like they updated the design, this one is preassembled and comes with the shifter plate

That is the B&M knock off, I sell loads of them to the guys in South Africa, and used one on my personal SR20 for a year (30k miles) till i went RB.
They work as well as my last SR20 with a genuine B&M but there are a few things to note.
First off the little nylon fitting that engauges into the shifter mechanism in the trans is junk, pop it off and get a genuine nissan one (same as near all RWD nissans and the KA, nissan keeps them in stock because they wear out so often) about $2,
Secondly is the dust boot that fits onto the shifter, you gotta take off the little counter weight thingi (which is aluminum so its not a weight at all) and fit the boot on, get one new from nissan, same as the KA, its cheap, when putting the little weight/aluminum thing put a tiny bit of silicon on it to stop it from possibly vibrating,
then ure good to go, they are awsome.

So all those shifters like that without the boot, you must take apart and put one on? How do they come apart?

The top part should screw off.

Much easier, just pop the little clip off that holds the cone shaped counter weight on, then slide it off, put the boot on, side the cone shapped counter weight back on and fit the little clip back on, remember the tiny bit of silicone ;)

Rezlo, how much do you sell them for?

Would Nissan stock the boot? My stock shifter has a torn boot and I bought a Cosmo Racing shifter. I don't think they have the boot.

yes nissan will stock it, its the same as the KA and small nissan trucks,
I buy them direct from the manufacturer at about 1/2 that price 20 at a time,
The megan one is identical to the ones you see on ebay, as long as you do what i said up above youll have a real nice shifter

The previous owner of my car put an obx short shifter on there, it fucking rattles like shit above 4500rpms. and i dont even bother taking it up to 7k because it vibrates too fucking hard. i have no idea what causes it either, i almost rather go back to stock...

Take the shifter out, youll see it has the little nylon bush that slips into the selector shaft of the transmission, they are very common to crack causing huge amounts of vibration, near all RWD nissans use the same little nylon bush/cap and its about $2, go buy a new one and check if the counter weight is ratteling as i said earlier to :)

That or you need a new transmission mount.

im currently using a EBAY special version 2 short shifter, which is basically the same as megans. swaped out the white cap, and put oem boot on and has been shifting smooth and accurate threw out the gears. only cost me 85$ shipped, best bang for buck.
hope this thread won't F*CK B&M over

I will backup B&M. The quality is great and you can feel it. I have not used this v2 Megan Shifter, but there is a reason why the B&M has a much greater price. They do tons of R&D on the product to make sure its right. A company like Megan may do minor R&D and just put out a product that works. Im sure if you broke down the shifter and compared it, the tolerances would show the quality.

FYI, the rubber boot is Nissan Part No. 22862-V5002 $8.80 and the plastic bushing is 32861-H7301 $3.92.
Those are for my local dealer... and they said the rubber boot is different for 89-94 and 95-98... not sure how. Anyone?

I am using the Ebay one, as are several other people doing so as well, I have had no issue.
Yes, it rattles like hell, but I could care less, I just turn the radio up.
The seller is "delubozparts"

I just got mine in, and it's awesome...the throws are really short...exactly like the B&M...it does have a little rattle which I will be looking into...Just incase anyone is wondering about the install...make sure you have a ratcheting wrench for those 2 fucking 12mm bolts that are in the worst spot ever

the throw is as short as a B&M? how does the height compare to a B&M?
Did you get the harder to get to 12mm bolts from under or in the car?

Well...I got to them from both? I know, I know...I just didn't have a ratcheting 12mm wrench, which would have helped to get it off...I basically swung like a monkey under the car hanging on the tranny...Here is a pic of how the height is...I think its pretty close to stock....
