View Full Version : fender flares
i remember seeing pics of a 240 someone here bought with fender flares, they were grey i think.
anyways, i was wondering where to get a set, i was talking ot the guy who is gonna do all the body work on my car he could mold them in easily when he does the paint.
he just did a kit and paint on a prelude where he did alot of molding and it looks unbeleivably sexy.
i'm sure that some body like APC makes gay fender flares, would they be suitable for molding??? where else could teh be had, or are there other methods???

well those are a bit much for me...
i want them to look stock but way sexier, no telling that they were ever added.
he molded every inch of the preludes kit into the body so it looked like it was always like that.
i was thining something cheaper... maybe i'll ahve to talk to him again

jun makes some, they are similar overfenders - made to fit both s13 and 14, you could shave the rivets and make 'em look kinda-stock

anywho, i like em
you can get em a couple of places, all for about the same $$

mmmmm, all i want is an extra inch or so, you know how homo's have those thin chrome things on their fenders, well i'm thinking something like that that would be molded and painted the same as the whole car.
not the thin trim tape, but i've seen what i think are plastic one but i wanted something a different material, or would those actual chrome things be okay to mold???
i feel like a friggin newbie asking these gay questions

you probably could mold a set of the trim chrome, available through JC whitney (not the site apparently, or at least i couldn't find it)
the big thing tho, is that usually u install and mold fender flares like what you are talking about to size up the wheels, what you are talking about won't let you do that, if anything it'll hinder what you can use.
the chrome trim would probably be moldable, but you'd have to really scuff the hell out of it, it won't want to take any other surface.
the only other thing is that usually, those chrome things are usually made to match the shape of the oem arch, that is... little or no flare
sorry about the length, just my .02

i agree in theory, in theory communism works, in theory
i dont actually want to have chrome trim, i just want somethng to build around i guess. the rear arches have zero bulge, they are so flat, i want a little moderization w/o the whole widebody thing.
i swear i saw pics of a kit for this somewhere's before.
bah, i'll keep looking
fack, it took me all of 5 seconds to find this shit for civics...

i'll contact them for 240sx flares.
he says they are universal. but they have room for the honda gas tank, so he's big liar.

wouldn't you be able to roll out your fenders more using the baseball bat technique? You're only trying to put wider wheels right?
You can get a metal bat and put it in between the tire and fender and gently push down on the bat to sort of push out the fenders. And slowly push and roll the bat over and over until the fenders flare out enough.
Would those JUN ones allow for wider tires or do they just go on top the original fender and just add a look (but since it's JUN i doubt it's only for looks).
What are the widest tires one can fit on a stock S13?

i dont like. They did a half-ass job molding it, u can see where they put the bondo, it's really inconsistent and lumpy. The rear flare looks ghey...wayyyyyy too low.
that red strawberry face looks like SHIT. and I mean that in caps. Really fucking disgusting! Why oh why do gay lords have access to S15 front ends!?
edit: re: flares-- I like fender flares when they're there to clear bigger tires/wheels, but not if they're just there for looks. Also, the "hammered out" look appeals more to me than something that looks bolted on. It's hard to explain and I don't have photos, but a lot of S13s in Japan seem to have them. I know the Green Koguchi 180sx had these types of flares at least at some point.

I'd swear that's a 'lude w/ an S15 front on it. The ass doesn't look right and what's the point going w/ those big ass flares and no deep dish rims. duh <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> That is a bad conversion if it is a 240

and look at the added aluminum front spoiler.
a) the spolied is pointed down in the back, thus creating more lift in the front instead of downforce.
b)you can have ready chopped squirles(sp) and other road kills.
I'm sure the guy got stabbed more than once.

fender flares look good on some cars.. personally it really depends on the car. i've seen them on plenty of silvias and loved them, but only a couple 240's have looked nice. the nismo s14 above looked clean.. but i do reccomend... it's ok if u mold ur flares.. but don't mold ur whole kit bing.. u'll regret it.. i have a molded kit. there are certain stress points that no matter how muchn work , and how great it lines up will cause ur paint to crack and maybe even the fiber glass.
actually i wont be getting a kit, just the front lower valence, sideskirts (zenki or PDM) and i wanted a bit of attitude in the rear since the like i mention the rear fenders are so straight.
just thought it might look interesting, but then again i wont be able to get wider wheels so your right it may look not so hot. however my buddy is starting up his garage and will give me great deals, he prolly would not have charged me to do the moldings so thats why i think about it.
BTW, i have the money order written out to Don for my AGX's i am sending for them tomorrow
