Well let me first say that the Tampa meet was awesome for the first day, it's about 7<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':0'>0am on sunday and I am eagerly awaiting to dyno my car today. A few of us went out last night in Tampa looking for a street race spot and we rolled into a local fast domestic spot with your typical mullet mobiles gathered. The guys were real assholes at first but things calmed down a little into the night. They started by trying to take the film out of someones camera, it was digital so they made him delete the photo's, they didn't want there little spot to be found out I guess, which is cool but they didn't have to be such dicks about it. Needless to say both my races were not filmed unfortunately. &nbsp; <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sneaky.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':pissed:'>
I wanted to smooth relations a little bit so I calmed the situation verbally and then just got into my car and pulled over to where they were standing and asked if anyone wanted to run. After a minute of deliberation they finally picked out a worthy opponent driving one of those beautiful 1989 Pontiac trans am pace cars with the V6 Turbo GN motor, this car was 13 years old and had 23K miles on it. We head out on the street and he wants to go from a stop... I am at a serious disadvantage, he's got drag radials and a stall convertor, but I was in there house so I had to adjust. Out of the hole and I am squirrelly he's got me by a car and a half, slowly I am catching up, through the gears and into 5th, door to door and pulling him hard, I get a fender on him and he shuts down. It was a good race. He later told me it runs 12.1 hehe
&nbsp; &nbsp;On to the greatest kill I will probably ever have....
So this Viper rolls in, looking like a GT-S but the owner just made his RT-10 look that way, hard top, new front end with scoop, exhaust out the middle, new rims etc. Immediately everyone looks at me and says race the Viper!
I have always wanted to try one for the hell of it so we went up to the guy and started asking questions, he said it was stock, hehe So I'm thinkin "hhmm maybe I got a chance hehe" He says he's not sure if he wants to run or not and asks me what I'm driving, I tell him it's a four cylinder he looks at me strange and asks what kind of car and I tell him, he just says "maybe later" hahaha it wasnt a "NO" so I was happy! Eventually after a few races I see him heading towards the car and he pulls out a tire pressure guage and starts working on his mamoth rear rubber, he looks up at me and says "give me a couple of minutes" WOOOHOOO boys he's goin for it! We load up and get the cars started, my chest was on fire and I was breathing like I just ran a marathon, we pull out and get turned around, lined up and I tell him I want to go from a roll, he says fine and we drop the hammers, I hit second and am all over the place but guess what? No viper beside me!!! I got him by about 2 car lenghts through the gears and he just stayed back there, it was soooo sick!!!! I could almost hear all the other Nissan buffs screaming their heads off!!! my phone rang immediately and it was my buddy Paul saying "you just became my new personal hero!" I pulled in and probably had to shake about 20 hands hehehe it was awesome! the feeling was almost indescribable! I hope this doesn't come off as bragging, I don't want you guys to think I'm some pompus prick but man I just had to tell that story!

Congrats on the win. &nbsp;How much boost are you running on that set up? &nbsp;It is possible to beat the Viper especially with the mods you have and if the tuning was done right.

I don't think it's so unbelievable..without video. &nbsp;the RT/10 is 3300 lbs, and 450hp. &nbsp;Jay's is 333.1 rwhp and 359.9 torque. Peak torque was at 4300rpms. &nbsp;and his car is probably 2700-2800 lbs at most. &nbsp;that really close power/weight ratio's.

I was going off that, if it's wrong...ok. and the viper is 3300 stock..so throw 150-250 lbs for the guy driving that as well. I was just pointing out that even at 330 at wheel..by numbers, the race would be very close...so it would come down to extra weight, and the driver skill..not saying misshifting..just not as quick, or maybe doesn't shift at the right points....but regardless....this is totally believable...

the best ive seen a viper run is a 12.4 and if he beat a car whose best time is a 12.1 i think its possible. &nbsp;how much are you boosting man? and a stock skyline would be sucking exhaust too

Griffon2K- Do you read posts before you actually reply?? I wrote "check my sig for mods and more pics". Yes my car does have ungodly hp and torque. 333.1hp and 359.9 Torque at the wheels. It was a stock RT-10 and the driver told me it ran 12.3's. Would you like to read the post on the tampa boards where the driver of the Viper says, and I quote: Fair enough Jay, but since you got me I gotta exaggerate. LOL
That means I won fair and square and he was humbled so he had to exaggerate to save face. I was running 21psi on pump gas. No I am not going to Nopi RICE show. I smoked an R32
Skyline GT-R about a month ago on I-4, it had a FMIC and Exhaust that I could see. A GT-R might get me out of the hole but by 3rd I would be next to them and by 4th they would be waxing my taillights. The T/A turbo I raced and caught by 5th gear ran [email protected] 113 last night. So I will definately say my car will run 11's with slicks. Plenty of people on Fresh Alloy .com witnessed the race and actually started a thread on it. Why don't you go check it out.

rotarynight- I was running 21psi on pump gas. I have run 25psi on the dyno.

240sxextreme- I believe the Viper RT-10 is only 400hp if I am not mistaken. The GT-S is 450
I was guessing on the weight. I weigh 275 though.

i believe it, hell i beat my friends Chevy Nova that runs 12.10's on street tires with 20psi. so it is very believable.
PLUS,---he is a KA-T. got to support that. with a bigger turbine housing and slicks, i can see his car run mid 11's. it is possible, right now i am working on my best. so far it is an 11.89 but i need work on launches, i am bogging off the line. will keep ppl posted with that. going to the track soon for more practice.

from 92-95, the RT/10 was 400.
96, 415
from 97-current, the RT/10 was 450.

so depends what year.

if it was 92-95...then for sure, you're story is quite believable...(although, I don't doubt)

PSI240-What I meant by ungodly hp was something like Chris May's 438hp KA24DET (SCC May 2002). He ran 438hp and 375ft/lb on the dyno at 6100 rpms and 22psi of boost. (He should bring that torque up a little though because with it at 375ft/lb's and 438hp at the crank, he is only running probably about 410-415 at the wheels. Don't get me wrong PSI 331hp and 359 ft/lb torque is nothing to sneeze at (i like your power ratio, your torque is where it should be...) but it isn't what I consider ungodly. It is a beast, but not ungodly.

As for that R32 you beat, I am not sure what happened there..Because I know of average Skylines that run 700hp. Will you be at the NOPI drags this year? Motorex will. I figure you have beat a Viper and a R32, you should be able to give them a good spanking too. I hear they run all motor....

no it's not ungodly horsepower, and neither is chris may's. if it is ungodly, it's nothing that hasn't been seen in the past 30 years.

Skyline GT-R come stock at around 273hp (due to Japanese emission regulations), but with a lil work that 273 goes right up to 400hp and beyong (and that is only with an intake and and exhaust, god forbid that they go turbo.) AND THE AVERAGE SKYLINES THAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT ARE THE ONES THEY TUNE IN JAPAN WHERE THERE ARE A SHITLOAD OF SKYLINE GT-R's. So unless you have a japanese license, of course you wouldn't know of any average skyline GT-Rs that have around 700hp.

I can't believe I'm going to get involved in this, but here it goes:

273hp. That's what you quoted the Skyline as having stock in Japan correct? Well if you did know anything you would know that Nissan only quoted the car at 273hp so that it would be a legal car to sell in Japan. In real life They come at much closer to 350hp stock (I believe that's the number, *could be wrong as I do not own one, but I know it's much more than the rated stock number*).

As for the "average" 700hp Skylines that you speak of...you're on crack. Magazines don't want to do articles on weak Skylines so of course the average Skyline in Import Tuner, Sport Compact Car, and Super Street is going to have an insane amount of Horse Power, but they are far from average my naive friend.
