alright, i've ran across some pretty neat japanese wheels. they're 17"x7"s. whats the beefiest tire i can run in the rears... i have 1" spacers as well. go ahead, you guys can flame on that. anywho, what is the widest size tire i can run on a 7 inch wheel. and as well, what profile size would you recommend on a 17? thanks, and i guess flame on.

The widest Tire I have ever seen on a 17x 7 inch rim was a 235/45R17, but it doesnt look right, I wouldnt recommend any wider than 225/45R17, anything lower profile than that is rediculously skinny unless you're running 245 or larger.

I have 205/50's on my panasport 16x7's. the fit looks perfect and i couldnt really see me wishing i had a wider rim. I went 205 cuz its whats stock on an s14se but next time i buy tires im going 225, and im also going to de-drift my camber/caster to save on tire life.

why not stretch it put 195/50/17

he said he wanted the most rubber on the ground, and stretching a x7 rim is kinda silly.

anyways, whats your suspension set up, and how low is your car? id go with a tall sidewall if its stock, then like 45 series if its lowerd on springs, then mabey lower on cranked down coils. this has been coverd a bit, but yeah, 17x7 is a 225 or 215

im running 225 on my 8" wide front wheels and i think its too flimsy. 215 would be just right for my 8". I wouldn't look past 215 on your 7". 225 will def buldge. But then again, i really dont know what your looking for in your car.

If its just for the sake of having the most grip for street, 225 would be fine.

I've run 225/45-17 on a 17x7 and wasn't happy with it, it bulged too much and would deflect under hard cornering.
If it's grip you're going for, I would run a good compound in 215/45-17, you'll probably like the way it behaves better.
My favorite track setup for 17x7 is 215/40-17 on the front, and 215/45-17 on the rear.

Here's what 225/45-17 looks like on a 17x7 just in case you still want to run that size.

I would do 205/45/17 but since you want alot of fucking rubber on a 7 inch (oxy moron) I would do 215, what are you doing with the car? If you're drag racing, or something put a 225/45/17 if you're like driving hard, more is not always best.
