I have had my 90 fastback for a while now and can't figure out how to use the shoulderbelt? The lap belt is a no brainer, but....damn i feel dumb!

you have an automatic shoulder belt, it should slide back against you when you close the door, if it isnt there then someone un buckled it and you need to buckle it, just like the lap belt, if it is there and its not working than you need to get it fixed.
wait your talking about the rear, sorry...now I feel like a moron too

hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Wow, i am not that retarded...I forgot to mention i was talking about the rear seatbelt. The front, i would really have to be dumb, if i didn't know how to work it!

Okay maybe i need to explain it a little bit better. The lap belt you just pull across and snap it into the buckle. Then above the rear speakers is were the shoulder belt attaches, and it's end piece lookes like it should plug in somewere, but i an't find anywere to plug it in???

Doh, I didn't even read the topic
What probably happened is the seat belt "female" part got lost. On the rear bench, you should find two little tabs to lift up the bottom of the seat. Pull the tabs and lift up the rear seat bottom. Under there, you should find the place the seat belt snaps into, the famale piece, which is bolted down. Stick it throught the cutout in the seat and you should be good.
Hope that helps,
Jeff

the two tabs that let you pull up the rear seat (bottom cushion) are below the cushion on the front of the seat.
Just in case you didnt know where they are....

Okay maybe this iwll clear it up a little bit more. On your cars, is the lap belt and shoulder belt connected together or are they seperate. B/c they are seperate in my car, and can't figure out were to plug the male piece on the shoulder belt. Like i said though, I already know how to use the lap belt, it is just the shoulder that i don't know how to use!

Separate lap & shoulder belts? My '90 coupe had one piece belts.
The only thing I can suggest is make sure there isn't another female connector that has slipped down behind the cushion.

Gee I haven't seen two piece belts in a long time. My '82 Stanza had one piece. I wonder if a previous owner changed the rear belts.

Take the lap belt metal plug in peice. Turn it so the back end of it is uncovered from the seat belt(ya know so ou see the other end of the metal peice). You will see two holes connected. One big and one small. use the shoulder belt little male peice and stick in the big one. then slide it to the small one
there ya go

Heh, I have a '90 fastback. A ton of people who get in the back for the first time are like, "How the FSCK do you get these belts on?" especially after they see how I drive...

Well, the shoulder piece connects to the buckle of the lap belt. It's kinda like some overalls. The "button" (or whatever you call it) on the shoulder belt slides into a hole in the lap belt.

I've never seen another car with belts like that, but I guess it works.

Thanks guys, i feel a little bit better b/c i figured it out before your responces! But thanks alot!!!!!!!! Those are some crazy ass belt, but if anyone is in my back seat they aren't sitting in the right possition to put the belts on. They more than likely put their ass on one side, and put their feet on the other side of the seat. Most comfertable way for al three passengers!
