Some background since I doubt anyone knows much about my car, had a stock blacktop, upgraded to gt28rs with enthalpy tune injectors maf blah blah, motor blew, build the motor, 9:1 cp, eagle rods, blah blah blah, that motor blew...

At that point I thought about giving up and selling the car, and even tried for about 2 days, then I got some garage space and decided to fix the damn thing and figure out what was blowing up motors (im figuring it was a faulty pump which has now been replaced).

The car is running again on a stock redtop I picked up for 1600, i replaced everything I could and cleaned the hell out of it, slapped on the gt28rs with stock injectors, shes running mint at 10psi currently(165,160,160,165), here are some pics:

The garage space with my friends impreza project wagon:

Painted my engine since I had the time/space:

Decided to redo my wiring harness the right way this time, All wires are soldered, shrink tubed, and electrical taped:

Cut out quite abit of extra length

Soldering and looming

Here it is complete, about 5 feet from the ecu to the CAS

The strange rom tune I got with the motor set, cant seem to find any information on it except a company in the UK that does racing ECUs:
http://teamhpi.org/10-8-06/g_dash_rom.jpg

I decided just to try the ecu, since there was a small chance it was just a basic boost/speed limiter cut tune, and just my luck it was, car runs excellent.

Finally put back together:

If you wanna see more pics you can just browse the folder:

And the blown built motor pics:

Im not sure if im gonna build another motor, just going to enjoy driving the car again and get some proper gauges before doing anything else.

Wait your running a GT28rs on stock injectors with an unknown parametered ECU??? Not to be a doom sayer but you could be looking at a 3rd blown engine with that kinda bullshiet....

But hey either way...welcome back...

If the ecu was tuned for anything but stock injectors the car would run like crap, the plugs show a good mixture and 10psi on a gt28rs has been done on stock maf/injectors before, ive seen someone run a gt2871r at 10psi with no problems. Im going to the dyno this week to see what shes doing and the first thing im getting is an AFR gauge, then a nismo fpr/in cabin fp gauge.

Not really OT considering half the post was my harness pics =], I originally wired the car about 2 years ago using this guide:

http://web.tampabay.rr.com/hsaini/PICS/HELPFUL/S13SRInstallationIntoS14.pdf

I also used the ecu pinout to figure out what wires I didnt need and could safely remove. I just unloomed the entire harness, removed the extra wires, ran the harness with the motor in to find all the lengths I wanted and such, simple, but time consuming.

awww i love the picture of you drifting :)

good shit man. I'm very impressed with the harness work. I plan on doing that very soon as well, but it should be a bit easier cause I have about 1/2 the accessories and shit....

Besides the MAF im not sure what you plan on ditching.. injectors, ignitor, IACV, knock sensor, main grounds, TPS, temp sensor/gauge sensor, CAS, MAF, O2, coil packs, that's all thats in the harness

Very good job with the wiring. We can all hope to be half as meticulous.

Mah bad, i wasnt trying to jump at you or anything. Just looking out for yah. Just figured that just cuz the ECU is working for the injectors doesnt mean its AF and timing maps on the dot. Plus the fact that japan has higher octane that NJ, you could be running lean/knocking for all you know. Sparkplugs doesnt always tell you the full story...

i'd say use something to piggyback unto the ECU when dyno tune it (SAFC), figured your already there, might as well tune it while its on a dyno hooked up to a wideband.

Nah youre right, its not the best idea to trust the tune, i mean it runs fine, but its impossible to tell, i know it SOUNDS good, but you cant be sure, im gonna run it on the dyno wed just to see whats going on, as of right now im just staying out of boost =]
