I'm changing my hubs and I'm trying to get off the rear wheel bearing lock nut. When I apply preasure to the rachet, the axle spins and the wheel bearing lock nut doesn't loosen. How do you get the axle to stop spinning?

bro, pull that e-brake up and put it in first gear if needed. I hope that you're using a breaker bar and not just a short ratchet

if you have air tools, give it a blast...

if not, what you should have done is:

-take off wheel

-remove cotter pin and hub nut cover

-put wheel back on

-set car on ground

-break the nut with a breaker bar or whatever is necessary

-proceed to disassemble everything

One of my friends told me to do what sw20>>s14 mentioned. It worked great. e brake and first gear doesn't work, the driveshaft doesn't spin so that will do nothing. Thank You

Gravity is your most useful tool.

Dropping the car with the wheel on is the best method. But if its a removed subframe, or a car at the J-yard, sometimes I can get it to work by sticking a wrench on the halfshaft so that when the axle spins it catches on the subframe.
