The only thing I can imagine he means is the size of the piping will greatly reduce backpressure, decreasing power. But anyone with a brain knows that 'backpressure' is BS, the larger the piping the more exhaust flow, doesn't matter about anything else. The only drawback on an automatic is you're not making near as much of a power increase because you're limited by the transmission itself, but it's not going to "kill" anything. You just won't see as much a gain as if you would on a manual car.

The torque converter will probably negate any noticable change in the low or high end. Even so, exhaust sound cool and that's a perfectly good reason to buy one. It isn't necessary to rationalize every mod with performance increases.
