Luckily, i qualified for the pro-am yesterday at Grind (Dailydrifter) event and received the invitation
KiDyNomiTe posted a thread few weeks back about transporting cars to NV. The more i read that thread, the more i feel like Pro-AM isn't really worth it. Not to mention all the safety tech, roll cage, suits....
I also heard a not-so-cool rumor from my friend about Pro-am (he's a good friend w/ Drift Alliance member, so i'd assume the source is reliable) series. Is it true that FD drivers who don't score enough point this season will get booted to Pro AM series? If that's the case then this is really fucked up IMO, our home build drift car VS built sponsored car????
can anyone confirm this rumor?
thanks

Buying a cage, suit, legit helmet, trailer, tires, hotel, gas and such just to get to nevada for 5 runs sounds like the wackest of wack plans to me.
I dunno why Ameen and Amir are so gung ho about it.

You will battle against 0 season point FD drivers on sunday to battle it out for FD licenses. I don't understand your mentality though. I'd kill to battle some badass cars and spank the shit out of them. If they aren't getting points in FD, there should be no reason to be scared. At least here in socal, I see plenty of talented amateurs that could give the pros a run for their money.
I swear, you could take about 20 drivers from our Just Drift Top Battle amateur series and give a lot of the 0 point FD drivers something to be scared about.

it is actually 3 days event. First day is for practice. Second for qualifying, and third for tandem elimination runs, correct me if i'm wrong
I was also told that ProAm will pay .15 cents/miles to drivers that show up. I did math and came out to be about $500 bucks, long ass way, still not sure if it's worth missing one week of work and investing money in this since i have NO idea what our skill levels are compared to the rest
From what Charlie (Justdrift) has said, FD and FD Pro-Am are separate entities, run by different groups.
Even so, It sounds like the only way to get an FD license is through Pro-Am at this point, so zero-point FD drivers who lose their licenses for next year will probably have to compete in Pro-Am for them. This is only what I can figure out from what I've heard.
I look forward to it. If you recall FD Norcal, having a sponsored ride doesn't really mean much, their were lots of privateers that did incredibly well.

Yeah, but even with that 500$ you'll still need to spend about 1500$ to get your car up to safety spec (I didn't notice a cage in your car?), tires, and travel if you don't have any freebies thrown at you.
I wouldn't doubt that it would be a blast, but 1500$ worth of a blast? Im less optimistic about that. who knows, If I was good enough to qualify I might be slinging kidneys for my chance.
In Conclusion: do what tastes right.

2nd day is tandem comp for only the pro am guys. 3rd day is another tandem comp with the fd drivers, the fd pro-am guys can drive in it still.

Yea, Ameen told me about the AZ event as well, sounds like fun.
