OK, so ive done a search for this, and nothing really has helped. The head was dissasemble when I got it, so now im putting it together. Ive got the cam in and the rockers lined up. I installed the cam pulley to the cam, and screwed the bolt on hand tight. After that the cam just moves. I need to know how to tighten this down without moving the cam. Also, my search has helped me a little, im pretty sure someone said that the little indention on the cam will show where TDC is, and if that is at 12 o clock then its TDC. Piston 1 in the block looks like its all the way up. Ok, but theres some marks on the pulley from the person that took it off. Im not sure where those are soposed to line up, guessing with the chain on.
I need some help guys, the fsm i have is for a DOHC:duh:, and I wont have money till or tuesday to go and get one.

Whoa whoa, who BUYS an FSM?
Use an impact gun to secure the cam pulley without turning the whole assembly.
You have a SOHC?

will an impact gun be able to provide the needed 120-130 ft.lb. to secure this?
is there no way to do this with hand tools, breaker bar ect?
For the FSM I was gonna suggest carfiche.com (http://www.carfiche.com/), but the link for the SOHC FSM is down. And Zeryon.com has been down lately.
right behind the fist cross brace that holds the cam down should be a hex nut type deal on the cam shaft you need i belive a 24 wrench to get at it then put the breaker bar on the cam nut and have at it!!

I dont really see what ur talking about, is the nut on the head or is it on the cam. Will I have to take the rockers off to get to it?
I took some pics of the head so that I could get a visualization of it.

wow so i thought nissan tech would be the same but i guess not on my head dohc its got a hex built into the cam but it doesnt look like yours does and the factory manual doesnt tell you how to accomplish this?

the factory manual just tells howto take the head apart. It does say that when the timing chain and stuff is on, u hold the crank down, and turn the cam bolt with a breaker. I dono, I got it to torque down pretty good untill the cam moves, im guessing probably 50-60ft.lb. according to the FSM it needs 123-130ft.lb.
damn...i might have to go re tighten mine but i have to get a friend because i barely weigh that lol so i doubt i could put that kinda force on it....but yeah thats really odd...look at the other side of the cam and see if it is keyed or anyhting

well I could usea torque wrench, but i dont have one.

Theres on threads or allen key anywhere on the back of the cam, Would it be save to use the pulley?
Should I worry about unthreading those bolts that hold the rockers down too much? I dont really wanna have to keep unthreading and rethreading those bolts down.
o, ya and see those marks on the pulley. Does anyone know what they would mean? Theres an X and /\ shape at the top and a dot thats indented into the pulley on the right side,
It sux to go start from the bottom up when u didnt take it apart in the first place.
