speakers question

hey, i just installed a new deck, and the speakers and sub works fine when i listen to the radio, but wen i put in a cd, mp3 or regular cd, the panasonic unit reads the cd and theres bass and music coming from the subs... but no sounds at all coming from any of my speakers.... all wires are hooked up correctly... since they work PERFECT wen i listen to the radio, but its just wen i try listening to a cd, any cd, no sounds from the speakers... WERIDest thing ever... anyone know how to fix or what is wrong? rememer... the unit does read the cd's and i can scan thru songs but only listen to the bass....and its like...:wavey: :hahano: :hammer: :o :hahano: ... crazy

is it new? what model is it? it sounds like the HU is fucked or the settings are messed up in some way or another. i suggest a call to the manufacturer or the store you got it from.

what it sounds like is pretty much what cdlong says. It MIGHT be ur settings but usually they dont make it complicated so ur settings should be the same for radio/cd/changer. Sounds more like a defect in the deck itself. Either the circuit board for the cd is messed up or the connection between ur cd reader -> RCA cables are bad. Return it and get a different one or upgrade

You're both wrong.

I'm assuming this car has the 'ACTIVE' speaker system, correct? If so, you've got the power antenna output lead tied to the OE amplifier remote wire. When listening to the radio, the OE amplifiers are powered up and working, when you insert a CD the antenna circuit drops (don't need the antenna up anymore) so the amps shut off.
Reconnect it so that the blue/white (antenna) is powering the antenna only, the solid blue needs to be conencted to your aftermarket amp's remote and the OE wire (light green/red in the rear speaker plug).

damn ur absolutely right, the antena does drop wen i put the cd in,i was like... wut the hell, this never happened wen i was usin my pioneer deck, but i had to change the harness and redo all the wiring because my car was broken into and the theives just ripped out all the wires and the the head unit. now im a lil confused, can someone plz tell me exactly wut i need to do to fix this? rite on.
