Anyone see the new turbo magazine, it has the '96 240 on the front cover. It has the redtop SR with a T78 turbo , damn......

Yeah, I saw that. The article said its kinda laggy, but when the boost kicks in, its like a jet taking off.

old news, and yes it does lag. if you look at dyno you can tell easily. still a nice looking car though except that headlight cover thing, never really liked it

yeah it does lag a little, still i wish my car was that fast. and i never liked that headlight cover thing either, it is pretty damn ugly.

The T78 is the shittiest turbo you can put on an SR20 (the turbine is not shitty) It is larger than what is needed for the normally 54mm sized Stentac Exhaust Manifold (Header) The TD-05 (any 8cm series) or TD-06 20g is probably the best all around turbo for power and lack of lag you can put on the engine. They took it too far with that crap. While he is lagging some one else with a more sensible turbine will already be down the track in 10"154 @156MPH. Just MHO

silviasichigo- "The T78 is the shittiest turbo you can put on an SR20"

You may think so and you may be right, but Turbo mag obviously thought there was something special about this car that made it stick out from the rest of the 240's with SR20 motors.

Maybe so! But Like I said it is My Honest Opinion. I have had a lot of experiance with the SR20DET and I know for a fact the T78 T88 are just a little too large to put on that engine. If you are ever down in Japan look me up I will take you to a tuning shop that deals with the T78 T88 a lot thoes turbos were ideal for the 1JZ-GTE and the 2JZ-GTE thoes engines rock with the T78 and the T88.

But as I stated before that is My Opinion!

Silviasichigo- i was not doubting your knowledge of the Sr20 or the turbo, i just stated that Turbo mag thought there was something good about it.

there is no need to get so defensive! THAT IS MY HONEST OPINION

Well I didn't think I was getting defensive. Sorry if you saw it that way. I was just stating my opinion. If you thought I was getting upset you were wrong I have very thick skin and you stating your opinion will not effect me. I am sure the car is nice I have not seen it since I do not get that magazine on a regular basis. By the way welcome to the board.

Isn't greaser running a T3/T4 on his Sr w/ 450hp ? T78 is WAY big.. that would be completely un-streetable.

Disclaimer: I have very little knowledge of turbochargers.

With that said. if greaser is runnign a T3/4 with 450whp then that must be maxed out b/c I have heard that they are only good for 410 whp(?) Also, even theough the T78 may be too big for the SR wouldn't the T78 be able to hanldle more pressure than the smaller turbos?

Yes, the fact that it has a T78 turbo.

HA! Good one.

Turbo magazine is only slightly better than import tuner in my book. SCC still ownz the news stand!

isn't that what's commonly referred to as a dyno bitch?

you use the largest turbo you can get, to post high numbers...who cares about usability....it gives you the cool graph.

Heck, the graph isn't even cool... I guess I'm not in Turbo magazine's target audience, since I'm not one for drag racing, but the "huge turbo" dyno graph with no low end and a staggering torque ramp up while the big inefficient snail spools doesn't impress me one bit.

i saw that car in my trip to las vegas. parked in front of some parts store. i tried to take a pic of it but pops had other ideas. its really nice in person

its a dyno queen. made for one purpose, suck in little kids through the turbo and look good. never really meant to drive

maybe you could use a lil nitrous to spool up that T78? that's what Duy did...10.83...

but im comparing apples and oranges...Duy had a KA and a T70...this is an SR with a T78. you can use the same principle though, right?

Oh, that thing can really drive! I saw that car about a month ago on the 10 freeway jus passing Covina. I was cruising on the fast lane and he rolls up on the lane next to the slow one. I swear, he was going like 80 and then jus downshifted and was gone! I remember it having a different exhaust though, looked like a Greddy SP if i remember correctly. Oh and he had a big Bomex sticker on the back window, not jus the small on on the side. I didn't see who was driving it but whoever it was made me look like an idiot, getting smoked! That thing was throwing out like 2' flames.
