View Full Version : Just saw a crash. Kouki S14
I was driving through Cerritos on South street on my way to work, when I saw a ton of smoke coming up from the road ahead.
Turns out a Chevy astrovan made a turn in front of a black Kouki S14 with R33 GTR wheels. S14 looked totaled, with both airbags deployed. I turned around to see if he needed help, but by then, officers were already on the scene.
S14 Driver looked really shaken, I hope he's ok. Driver was a tall asian guy with glasses and short hair lightly spiked?. Anyone know who he might be?
I feel really bad for him.

OH NO WAY JASON! WTF
he BABIES HSI CAR! holy shit that sucks
oh no!
just got off the phone with Norm, he says it was in fact Jason.
Apparently, a cop made a safe turn in front of Jason, and an Astrovan followed the cop without stopping or looking, and Jason hit him. Fortunatly, the cop saw everything, and the astro is 100% at fault.
From what I heard, Jason has a dislocated finger, and may have been hurt by his glasses when the airbags deployed.
Hopefully Norm can fill us in a little better.

i normally don't post in forums other than fs/ft... not really used to using the forums... i'm still stuck on mailing lists, i suppose... norm told me that there was a thread on here about what happened to me yesterday... i got a lot of calls from people because of this thread, thank you all for your concern. i really appreciate it.
typing with one hand sux,,,, left hand sprained and lacerated in various places, most notable was my index finger that was dislocated but I popped that back in even before i turned off the ignition as the funk from the airbags dissipated... sore, bruised, sprained, and whip-lashed all over.... now on disability for 3 weeks and physical therapy to follow.
all in a nutshell, cruising @ speedlimit in 5th gear all granny style like i normally do down south street in cerritos headed west bound from shoemaker to 605 frwy... i'm the only car headed west-bound on south street at the time... just me and plenty of road... I can see bloomfield intersection.... approaching south and de voss T-intersection which is just before bloomfield, i see a police car and a brown astro van in the left turn lane east-bound. police car turns left... cool... i'm just cruising... whatever... i'm 20 yards from intersection, middle-aged asian lady in astro van decides to turn left in front of me... policeman almost completes his left turn and hears a crunch... thought he ran something over... looks in rear view mirror... asian lady turned left into on-coming traffic,,, right in front of me... i had hit the brakes as i notice she started to turn, was too late... *crash*
lady at fault, per police report... 240 gone... i'm injured... can't go to work... now on disability... the lady had the nerve to say i was on the cellphone... it's 8:40am... who would I call? check my phone records... liar...
luckily, the x-rays show no fractures, i'll heal... policeman said, good thing you weren't on a bike when he noticed I have an M-class license... i still want a bike... i'm just paranoid of intersections now... even when i wasn't the driver today and yesterday, i freaked everytime i saw an intersection with a car trying to turn...
i'll live...
i received many phonecalls asking if i was ok... I'd like to thank everyone for their concern...
before the accident...

This statement makes my blood boil...what the F_CK is wrong with this logic??? She should have noticed that it wasn't safe to turn before fabricating such a pathetic lie. Jason, sue the F_CK outta this biotch. You have a police report in your favor. Milk her for every penny you can!!

wow....that is truly sad Jason. Such a nice car too. :(
Even though I don't know you....I'm glad that your okay. Is that the lady that was driving the van? I can't believe she made such a lie. You have the police report backing you and I highly recommend you seek the ultimate payback from her insurance company. They should cover your medical, rental (if you need one) and money to get another car.

Just because a cop saw everything doesn't mean the insurance company will pay for everything. Some insurance companies will try to jip you. I work for a pretty big insurance company in California as well as in the legal department. I know what it's like.
I'm glad you're okay, Jason even though i don't know you. But a few hints to make sure you get all your money.
Try to record or get receipts of everything. Other insurance company will want them.
Remember all your treatment. Like ultrasounds, MRIs, Xrays, electrical stimulation, massages, heat/cold pads, medications...stay away from chiropractors that are attorney referred insurance companies know which are usually used, I know dozens by heart that are.
Stay away from any alternative medical treatment like acupuncture, most companies won't pay for that kind of treatment.
Go to your regular doctor , can't stress that enough, also use your insurance to reduce payments, makes them more legeit to the insurance company paying the rest if your medical paid for part.

That sucks, insurance wont pay you much for the damn car. Theyll give you bluebook for it even tho the car doesnt go by kbb anymore. Id say sue for physical pain and medical. Hopefully get enough out of it that you can get another clean S14 kouki or better yet...a brand new car. Car wise, theyll prolly give you something in the ball park of $7k for the car.

Wow, glad to hear your ok, similar thing happend to me, i wish there was law inforcement around at that time
Same here.
38 year old woman in an SUV ran a red light and t-boned me (I was driving an 89 Geo Metro) while I was making a left turn. Gets out crying and apologizing and whatnot, then tells the cop who showed up that her light was green and I ran a red light. Bullshit... I was hurt, my passengers were hurt, and my car was totaled. Her car had a broken headlight and a scratch on the fender. Come to find out, my insurance had lapsed the day before (mom's car, her insurance), so I lost my license for a year, and I'm paying off 10K in "repairs" to her car.
/rant.
Back to the topic at hand. I'm glad to hear you're okay. As was said, cars can be replaced; lives can't.
At least the law is on your side here.

That is such a bummer! I am glad you're ok. Car crashes can turn out badddd. Rack up that medical bill, pain and suffering is 2-3 times the cost of the bill. Don't run over what her policy will permit, though. My grandparents just got in a crash, and there was a $100,000 limit, they went wayyyyyyyyy over that. It was a bad accident, though. Hope you get better!

Don't rack up the bill it's a common misconception. be honest and you'll get plenty of pain and suffering compensation.

Fuck it, let your insurance total the car and just buy it back. Use the money to fix it and hopefully youll get more compensation by suing her. Atleast keep the chassis and get her back on the road.

I work in a legal department for an insurance company, I know...People who rack up the bill and that go to Trial never get as much as the prosecuting attorney tells you. People think they're going to 25k...end up with 3.5k. Be honest and a likeable person you'll get way more. Also depends on the injuries and age. Your grandparents probably got off pretty well because alot of people will sympathize with elders, however a guy here is what like 20-25 years old, plays a big part of settlements.

Alot of people believe that, and trust me, I get tired of it everyday. it's daytime tv that inform these people and it's horrible. Most people don't get much because of lawyer fees and doctor liens. Or they could go through the whole thing and end up with nothing but a huge bill because they weren't credible witness, which happens alot too.

good to hear you're doing well! damage doesnt look that bad.. i'd fix it if possible as they are so hard to find clean these days.. and definitely sue that fuggin senior citizen for damages.. i swear.. these old people.. over a certain age should seriously not be allowed to drive.. or at least have them tested once a year minimum.. you see these old ladies driving around in their caddy's and buick's with their terminator fully tinted shades even on the edges of the sunglasses! and two or three more blindasses in the back seat rolling down the street.. they are simply a ROAD HAZARD to everyone!! i know their life is going to suck after that but hell there is people to be saved out there! yes i ride a bike daily and see this every single day!! sick of it! sorry had to vent out!
