Lesson #1 If they really want your car, they will get it.
A Kill switch/Alarm/Autolock would do nothing against a Tow truck.
Lesson #2 Dont tell everyone that you have this and that, cause it makes your car HIGH PROFILE, and plus it should not be about bragging on material things, but skill.
Lesson #3 Dont park your car in stupid places, like when you go out, or leave it for the night.
Lesson #4 Use common sense.
Dang posers.

Fluck. I've seen a lot of nice S13s stolen. Not even, a lot of CARS stolen. It sucks to lose something that you put your heart and soul into working on. I usually don't take my S13 out too much, but when I do I'm usually near it, or in it, most of the time. When I'm home its always parked in between my other cars, because I just don't know what I'd do if I lost it...

WRX's were stolen every week over here in NJ. So if you think you'd be less likely to get a WRX stolen you're dead wrong.
Its not that these cars are stolen all the time, its that this is a 240sx board so thats why you hear about it.
I keep telling people there's nothing you can do to prevent a car from being stolen other than keeping it garaged or take the rims off.

deng sad tp here about your car. But i agree with these guys. if they really want your car they'll take it. And it really dont matter what car you have, noth every thief wants a 240. Just dont give them a reason to want it. good luck on finding it.

yea... ive seen more stolen cars this month than in the 2 years ive been at zilvia. sorry to hear about the car man.. one thing ive seen on evos at the beach is a wheel boot.. yea, apparently u can buy one of those. and no one can jack that shit at this point... too high profile.. not even someone with a tow truck would bother running the risk, it would be too suspicious cause it would be tearing up the ground. an official tow away would remove boot first...

Its a good deterrent, but there's two problems with the clutch lock.
1 - Just about anyone that can drive stick very well can do it without the clutch.
2 - If they want it bad enough, they'll just tow it.
Its a good idea to park your car in a manner that it can't be towed away. Think... Sandwich. ;)

Its all about population Biology, and Darwinism.
Since we have a population bloom of 240sx, AE86's and everyone trying to be a D1 driver, there are a certain number of cars that are going to be stolen, and it all comes down to survival of the "smartest". If your smart about it, you are going to be safe.
IMHO, usually the newbs, or posers( people who are just not knowing), get their ish stolen, and it is not their fault, but just plain inexperience.
I hope that everybody learns that jumping on the bandwagon, will eventually hurt everyone.

Unfortunately your opinion about newbs and/or posers are wrong. I've had s13s for 7+ yrs now and got my fastback stolen back in March. I'm not a newbie nor a poser, I think it all depends on who's going to screw who over next. I think it's always an inside job or a friend of a friend of a friend that will do it.
I don't care whether you're a newbie, poser, or an enthusiast no one deserves to get their cars stolen.
I'm actually tired of some of the guys here always bitching and moaning about how someone didn't do this or that to prevent theft. It's annoying that you're not contributing on spreading good info on how to prevent theft, there's always complaints only. The person already got their car stolen, wanna make them even feel more miserable? I say contribute to help the cause by starting a preventive theft post with all ideas or what someone can do to prevent amature thieves. And no one don't bull shit about..."dude your car got stolen, you wanna make a post like that to help them even steal our cars even faster?" Truth is that if there's a list of preventive deterrents listed and anyone can have any done in any order/place in their car...I highly doubt a suspecting thief from these boards will be going down the whole list trying to figure out what you've done to your car.

I am not trying to hate, but IF and only if you were smart, you car would not have been stolen.
It doesnt get more simply than that. At the end of day, it is just a car, it is not the end of the world. Life goes on.

Like I said...it's all about who's going to screw who over next. I'm sure you have someone eyeing your car right now and just waiting for the right moment when you're most unsuspecting and too confident your car isn't going anywhere. Like I said, just a bunch of complainers on here always putting people down. Should be careful of what you say....your day is coming sooner or later whether it's your 240sx or your other vehicles then you'll know how it feels about "IF and only if you were smart" and "At the end of day, it is just a car, it is not the end of the world. Life goes on" and we'll see how you feel then.
Funny how it's contradicting you are as well about being smart. If you're so smart, how are you going to prevent a tow truck for towing your car away? You said it yourself above that if someone really wants it they will definitely get it.

I agree with you, No one car should be stolen, but it happens. Just need to be smart about one's car.
Dont be upset with me, I didnt steal your car, let alone anyone's car.
For Luis, the original post, I tried to help him find his car, and went to extremes.
All I can say is relax, that is great that your car is your life, Im happy for you.
Just be careful.
How I prevent my car from being stolen, is that I dont trust anyone, I mean anyone. No one knows where I live, except for a few honorable people. I make sure no one follows me home, and this happens quite frequently. I also move another car right behind mine when I park it at night. Also, flashy bride seats, shiny shift knobs, nice wheels, stuff like this is a lure for theives.
I hope this helps.

If & when your car is recovered, ask the recovering officer if the officer can put in a request to have your car "dusted" for latent fingerprints. Some agencies like LAPD will do it while others may not - all depends on the size of the department, resources availble and the location of the recovered vehicle.
If the guy that stole your car was dumb enough to leave his prints behind, then there is a good chance we can catch him.
Anyhow, hope this helps..

Man I know its just a matter of time before my car gets stolen, I live around Orlando. I live in this really trashy apartment complex where people's cars get stolen all the time. Ive pretty much tried to make friends with everyone I know around here that steals cars and takes em to strip shops so my shit dont get stolen, but I know if they get desperate enough, respect only goes so far.

Honestly, at this day and age, theres not much you can do to your car to protect you from a thief. All you can do is add as much deterent that will make it harder or longer for them to pull it off. If they want it bad enough, they will tow the bitch...shiet parking it in a garage might not even be that safe anymore with all the shiet thats been going on.

I tend to back mine into parking places to make it harder for them to tow it. Since its RWD it has to be towed by the back wheels to not tear the hell outta the transmission, but if they just want the rest of it to part out, they dont give a shit about the tranny lol. But at least it might deter the newbier theives.

sucks man ill look out for the parts if i see them for sale. i had my car stolen once, turned out to just be a joyride and dumped it on a street, but i know that feeling.
hope you get it back, catch the thieves, or atleast get a decent settlement from insurance.
all u can really do is get an alarm and GPS so that u can track where the car is going if it gets stolen. but yeah its hard to keep ur shit safe nowadays.

Jack up your car, take off the wheels and use them as stands for your living room coffee table. Install a QR and leave the steering wheel under your bed. Make sure you also have the QR lock. Take out the battery and leave it in your fridge. BOLT your aero on instead of zipties. Install deadbolts on your garage and lock up all this shizz every night before your go to bed... Thats probably the only way I know of to keep your car atleast 51% theft proof... But hey, that 1% could do a lot.

While there may not be a way to prevent your car from being stolen there are ways help recover it. Anyone ever been on probation and had a LoJack around their ankle so the cops could track you? Well they make those for cars too, and no, the cops won't track your car if it's not stolen (for all you paranoids out there). The LoJack is hidden in the car (even hidden from the owner) and is inactive until the car is reported stolen. Once the police report is taken and the VIN is processed by the police they will remotely activate the LoJack and next thing you know you've got your car back and you find out which one of your "friends" tried to put a weenie in your butty-hole.
It actually seems like a pretty good theft prevention system, check it out:

DO NOT USE those footlock devices. i put it on the clutch and they simply bend the pedal 90 degrees to slip the lock off. when the car was recovered, the lock was still intacted, scratched near the contact area of the clutch pedal. i filed a claim and called the manufacter for the money back guarantee and they have not responded. It's been 2-3 years. If you put it on the brake pedal, they can simply drive away using your ebrakes.
LoJack is pricy but considering what you put into your car and the satisfaction of potentially catching someone and ruining their life forever, makes it very attractive.

To disable lojack, all they have to do is park it where it wont get reception, like a warehouse or something like that.

Welll I would not think the thief we be aware you were using lo Jack. On top of that I would not give most 240 thiefs even credit for thinking the car would be lo jacked. Lo Jack is usually used on 40,000 plus cars. Not a 240sx. Do you really think a thief is going to stop and say wait it minute it might be lo jacked I better find a warehouse to park it? hahhahhahahha give me a break.

Your an idiot. Simply put.
Theives only need a few hours to take all your silly parts off.
That is all it takes.
LoJack only works when you report it. If your sleeping all night, and let say they steal your car early enough, you wont find out till the morning, and then by then, when you realize that your car is gone, it will be just your frame, and while your looking at it, then you can laugh. Or if you want, if no one is around, then you can start crying.

The LoJack system works through concrete walls, ceilings, and other barriers to locate LoJack-equipped vehicles. Other anti theft services use a satellite system which requires a direct line of sight between the vehicle's satellite antenna and orbiting GPS satellites. :eek3d:
