So I was thinkin about suspension setup and the other day noticed a Gti dropped with the wheels tucked. We were on the highway. When he passed me (at an outlandish speed might i add), I noticed as he went by over the littlest imperfections in the road, the body would "slam down" (compared to my car) and the car would bounce for a bit and continued to do that as long as I could see it.

Now, is this due to worn shocks/struts and "too low" lowering springs, or is it aftermarket shocks/struts on cut stock springs, or is it stock shocks/struts on cut springs. I hope its not aftermarket shocks/struts on lowering springs, cuz if that was my car after that kind of money I'd be pissed.

Due to my calculations, I'm led to believe that because its slamming down, it would be a stock cut spring and badly worn shocks/struts.

Any thoughts would be great!

most likely the shocks are blown due to aftermarket springs or cut springs. Aftermarket shocks normally won't do that.

Any shock can do that if the springs blow the shocks. Also, any system will ride like that if it is one the bumpstops.

My bet would be a bit of both in this car's case.

I'm going to have to say it's the lack of damping since that's my current problem. Whiteline sent me the wrong front struts so now that my car is lowered all around with stock struts up front and koni's in back, and handles like piss. You FEEL EVERY bump in the highway. Now, the same weekend we did the full kit on uiuc240's car (including the proper koni struts) and that car is razor sharp. It's very streetable for a daily driver and has little ride harshness over stock, yet handles so crisp. Turn in is fast, and the car is more stable. Hopefully my proper Koni's will be here in four days and I will leave the riced out ranks of sloppy lowered cars.
