OK, before anybody goes bashing me for posting this, i think i've read just about every post on auto to manual swaps, BUT, I swapped in an sr20 w/ a manual tranny and I'm not sure how to get my speedometer to work. There are 2 wires for the speed sensor for the sr tranny and 3 wires for the automatic KA tranny. Is there any way to splice them together to work?

your KA auto tranny speed sensor should not have 3 wires if it does its not a speed sensor. Trust me on this I have seen way to many auto, manaul,ka,sr,rb etc...speed sensors in my life.

yes, definately has three wires, and goes into a plug behind the fuse box for the automatic. The manual tranny supposedly goes somewhere else, so I've heard. But there is definately 3 wires on the automatic, 2 on the manual, if there isnt 3 wires on the automatic then my auto tranny didnt have a speed sensor. I pulled all the sensors to do the swap. So, any ideas?? The automatic speed sensor doesnt look like the manual one either i dont think?

I think you aren't looking at the speed sensor. Get some pics up.

Jesus, I can't believe I'm reading this.

3wire unit = revolution sensor for the automatic.

2wire unit, hanging off the tailshaft = VSS. Located in the SAME PLACE for either manual or auto. Red and red/yellow for S14, direct plug in, yellow/black and yellow/red for S13 with a long lead (green and black on the sensor itself).

dont have an s14, THATS WHY I'M TRYING TO FIGURE THIS OUT!!! It doesnt make any sense!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[Edit]Thanks for the help guys, but i figured out my problem. Had to hardwire the speed sensor b/c the place I sent my harness to cut off the plug for it.

2 wires and same colour on MT and AT. The difference is the factory calls the harnesses different numbers.

Doesn't fucking matter, S13/S14 are the same for the revolution sensor.

I hate to re-hash this, but I've been trying to figure this out for the past year now. Now I don't know if my car is just retarded, but I can not find any of those wire combo's coming from my fuse box. My car was a 91 auto with ABS no hica's or VLSD. Could I just be a special case where the wires are different? Is there a way of finding out where the speed signal wires are without having a friend of drive around with me hangin from the engine bay?
