My friend is looking into getting power fc for his sr20 and were wondering if this still utilizes the mass airflow sensor or if it replaces it with a map sensor. Also who has had good luck running this on their sr's?

search. do you even know the basic concept behind a PFC? seriously, if you can't figure it out you probibly shouldn't be thinking about getting one. and if you understood what it is used for you wouldn't be asking this.

there's two types of powerFC. D-Jetro (map) and L-Jetro (maf).

There great. As above if it didn't come with a MAP sensor it most likely is going to use a MAF it has built in tunes for larger MAFS etc/

it comes with either or, which ever you'd like. its simply optional. :) id recommed getting the MAP, but ull need the apexi intake as well, but.. u'll never need to worry about mafs and all the bs again :) easier to tune with as well, however more expensive. i have a PFC and love it.

One of the best thing you can do in the long run!!! Fuck getting rom tunes, after a while, youll get to the point where timing will be an issue in tuning. You have more control over tuning parameters than piggyback ecus. Get a power fc, get it tuned. Later down the road, once you start adding more parts, add a wide band and egt so you can tune it yourself.

The D-Jetro utilizes a map sensor the other pfcs do not.
The power fc is still a sort of a bandaid option compared to other standalone options in the field as it stands today. Full coverage/support with software is still limited to power xl deals and Apexi distribution shops.
If you are a true DIY stay away from the power fc and use somthing from TEC, Haltech or AEM. Just remeber its recomended you use the UEGO for the AEM, but the HALTECH will interface just fine with the innovative LM-1.
Just my .02 cents.
I have gotten the nintendo fingers back in 02 even, threw the afc away, power fc bye bye, love my E8 plug and play.
If you can pick it up for cheap (ie 600-800bucks with commander) it might be worth it, its blows anything like a afc or e-manage out of the solar system.

VTC is uselss after 350 ft lb trq levels anyways, its usually jsut a hindrence, and if your upgrading to any large camshaft to supplement a typical drift or any setup beyond the 350 range you wont be using the VTC any longer. Plus VTC likes to snap camshafts, its funny actually to hear it snap on the dyno lol.
If your needing a serious EMS, then you probobly arent using the VTC with your valvetrain modifications anyways.

I don't plan on going higher than 300 so, VTC would stay for improved drivability. I would prefer to have EMS then some piggy back BS.
