i want to get new rims for my s14 (kouki) the sunken battle ship typhoons arnt cutting it any more.

i wanted to get mb competitions http://www.tiresdelivered.com/images/mbwheels/mb_competition.jpg

i wanted to get them in 17x9 +17 all the way around.
i wanted to run 235/45/17 in fornt and 255/45/17 back

im worried about clearence if i would rub in the front. i dont wana pull my fenders , at most ill do a light roll with a baseball bat. will those fit infront with the +17 or should i get a 17x9 +28 offset?

thanks for your help.

yes it will fit with a baseball bat roll

if you tried to use +28 offset in the front you would just hit your shock on the inside

will it sick out alot past the fender? and can i get away w/o a roll? or i can also go with a 17x8 +22? which would fit better in front>?

im running the 8 +22s and 9 +17s...fit fine...you may wanna reconsider your tire choices though...255/45/17 is just retarded...search the picture thread and the "ultimate wheel guide" or something...and also, redsh!ft's GB page...all fitment issues and requirement of fender modifications are thoroughly covered...

Roll your fenders and run 225/45s all around. 235/45 is a little on the big side.

im in nyc i would love the stretched look but i dont think it would survive the roads in nyc. i was looking for a beefy looking tire that would fit flush.

would those tires i listed be ok for that?

I drive on jacked up roads all over the place with 215s on a 9.5. You could 325/45s all around if you want. Or 235/40, but thats even smaller then a 215/45 in diameter.

itll take more than a roll to run 255s. id say run 235/40s if you are worried about bad roads, ive always ran 235 width on 9 and 10" wide, never bent a rim, hit railroads and road turtles and crap, every once in a while ill clip the side of a pothole or somthing, but i mean, if you bean some 4 inch deep pothole no amount of huge tire is going to save you.

I agree 235/40 or 225/45...

I have the same size and offset on my S14. I run 235/40s all around. Easy fit in the rear. Roll in the front. 235/45s are too tall. 225s will be an easier fit but 235s are not hard to do at all and you get more tire.

Forget about the 45 series tire.

Run the 235/40/17 all around, it's a super mild stretch, shorter, more clearance.

Get a torch and a hammer, roll is easy as pie.

As long as you don't run super low you'll be fine.

Add negative camber if necessary, -2.5 deg should be more than enough.

I think a 225 or 235 on a 9" at +17 should fit without a pull. You may have to roll the inner fender to keep from rubbing on hard bumps.

If you run a meaty-er tire (which I love, btw. I'm ordering 245's for mine), then you MAY have to pull the fenders for the wider tires.

Get the +17. You'll be much happier.

I think with +28 you'll definetly have issues hitting the inside fender and coilovers in the front.

I know with my 15x7 with +26 I was rubbing the brake bracket at full counter.

You're way better off with the +17 in the front and just hammer your front fender.

how could you be rubbing on ANYTHING with a 7j wheel? haha

Go with a 235/40 all the way around if you're using a 9" wide wheel. If you are going to stagger your tire sizes you might as well go with a 10" wheel in the rear and run a 255/40. 45 series side wall is just bleh, you would have to run a thinner tread patch to stretch the tire enough to eliminate a noticable amount of flex.
+17 offset should clear everything without rubbing.

thanks for the help i think ill keep the +17 all the way around and use the 235 40 17 front and rear.

anyone got a pic of a 235/40/17 on a 17x9 rim?

As said 20 times, 255 sucks, and would need to roll.
235-40 will fit fine, wouldn't even need to roll unless you are uber slammed.
I run 17x9 +20 all around on my kouki, 235-40's, 1.6 camber rear, 1.5 front on completely stock fenders. Fits perfect, another 3mm's would be fine as well. Car is not slamma-jamma'd, but lowered considerably.

here ya go, as I said this is factory alignment, stock fenders, and a 9" +20 so only 3mm difference.

I like the front, you can use a little more in the rear.

For the front:
You will rub coil with a 17x9+28

You will need roll with 17x9+17

For the rear:
Do they have a 17x9.5?

thanks for the pic kouki ka-t btw you car is nice, love the jdm front. the 235 fits pretty nice.

i think i will lean to the 235 all the way around.

slidin240wayz- the rims i want only come in 17x9 as the biggest size.

i plan next summer to powdercoat these rims in gold next summer, maybe do a gramlite look alike.

once again thanks for all the help.

so your front fenders aren't even rolled?

Not rolled at all. Untouched, no rubbing.
Just had to remove the fender liners of course...

235 40 17 all around on 17x9j +17 MB Motoring. done and done
From what I remember, the competitions don't come with the 17x9 +17, lowest is +27, you need to get the 7 spoke weapons to get the +17 offset.

Man if you live in New York...id go 45 series on 17s!!! 225/45s will save your ass, id try to put as much sidewall as i could on those rims if i were you.

The difference between a 225/45 and a 235/40 is pretty nominal to be honest...And if you learn how to drive, you'll be fine.

I've driven in New York before and I've never bent a wheel in my life

Difference between the two is 2.3%, not much but thats enough to make you feel a bit better while your pot hole dodging on the turnpike.

NO tire will prevent you from bending your rim if you hit a pothole thats actually big enough to bend a rim.

Shit I've seen someone bend a 15" rim running 195/60's.

Run whatever tire you want, cause unless you're running Jeep Wrangler sizes no amount of rubber will help you.

i saw a guy today at the just drift event running 17x9+15 fn01 with 235/40/17 up front on a s14 kouki. everything was stock... no fender roll... even had the fender liner still on there. dropped on tein super drifts... he didn't know his alignment spec but it didn't look like too much negative camber. maybe -1, -2 max.

no rubbage at all he says..

OptionZero
08-12-2006, 10:30 PM
you can do that if ur aren't super low

the advantage of 235/40/17 is that its HELLA short, shorter than stock IIRC

while were discussing if certain sizes will fit with or without mods...

will 17x8j 0et fit the front of an s14? i know 8j isn't that wide but the 0 offset throws me off... and what tire size for this size?

also, how would a 17x9j 0et fit in the rear (s14)? My rear fenders are already rolled so i'm wondering if its enough to fit these, probably with a 235/40 or 225/45..

OptionZero
08-15-2006, 09:59 PM
8inch = 225
it will be square. anything more is going to be rounded a bit, anything less will be stretched

17x9 means u need negative camber, maybe -3 deg with a 235/40
depends how low you are also

Whaaaat?! An offset topic without input from Dousan?!?!
Zilvia has stooped to new lows!
...just kidding. Whatever happened to 215s on 9" rims?? Is everybody running 200+hp now?! Sigh.

yeah just go with 235/40 for the fronts.
