Allright I finished my rebuild and put the engine in the car, wired everything up and the car wont start, it just clicks, and clicks. I thought it could be the battery, so I got a good one, and the same thing just clicking, but with an added twist, my E-Brake cable cought on fire, I assume it had some electrical current going thtough it and the rubber around it melted, I dont think this is normal eh? Also the new battery I got is near dead now after like 20 mins of trying to start it, it appears like my car just drains the battery dead quick... waddaya guys think? Im guessing imma have to take it to some shop to have them look at it, but I'd rather do it my self. Any help is better than no help ;D
thanks,
Andrew

check your starter. something might be touching it thats grounding it to the chassis. I had the intake manifold bracket fall off and fall onto the starter main voltage line from the battery; grounding everything. if you relocated the battery to the back, follow your pos line and look for any contact to the chassis. and check your starter if it will actually turn, the solenoid will click but sometimes the motor is out. good luck

check your distributor and timing, (mine broke but it does more than just click click.. but check it anyway)
clean your battery connection and look for busted fuses.
Oh yeah starter would be the first thing to look at but have you tried roll starting it?

eh dont even try the hammer thing, its just gonna leave you scrathing your head in frustration if it doesnt start. plus i know of some places that wont take a starter as a core if there are hammer markings on it. Here's wat i would do. take youre time. take the starter out and test it manually. I have this portable jumper thing that works great for something like this. isolate the prob; process of elimination. oh and check your grounds. If you look at the fsm there are actually a few grounds everywhere. If you read carefully there are two types of grounds too; engine ground and body ground. download the fsm from zeroyon and go to work. the one behind the vavle cover that grounds to the chassis seems to be a really inportant one. I know a couple of my friends' cars wont start without it. Its the one thats flat braided wire. hope this will help.

I remeber that braided wire... but cant find it ... ill check the FSM, I tryed push starting to no avail. I also think my dizzy is 180 out, ... how do I fix it? and I checked the starter (by taking it out and trying to jump it) and it just sits still, so I think its no good, imma take it to autozone to make sure tho.
I hope I dont have to pull the front cover to fix the 180 out on the dizzy ... right?

Allright, I fixed the dizzy, and get a new starter and took it to Autozone to make sure it works, and it does. I installed it and still nothing. It clicks once by the Acc relay and once at the Starter relay. I did the whole jump the starter relay thingy, and nothing. Also the E-Brake cable is somehow still getting current thorugh it (and strangly enough only on one cable, not both) This leaves me to believe I might not be grounded in every place. Where in the FSM does it show the grounds?
Also I just blew the 75A fuse... so maybe that will help find the problem... Thanks for all your guys help let me know what you think.
