I'm trying to finish up my sohc dohc swap and I'm having some issues with the cluster wiring.
Off the engine harness right before the ecu plug is a white one with about 16 pins (14 ish wires). Then, right after the ecu plug is the brown one..
I cut the brown one and I know I need to splice it into the cluster harness, but I can't find it... is it the white plug or is the cluster plug somewhere else?
Also, coming out of about where the ecu sits is a male 4 pin plug that I don't see a connector for. Is it important?

The gauge cluster subharness plug (that connects the cluster harness to the main harness) is just about directly behind the center AC vent there are two of them...they are flat IIRC about 6 or 8 wires each

got it... you guys rock.
so just one last check... brown plug on the main harness to the white plug on the cluster harness?
Where does the white plug on the main harness go?

What white plug? The brown dash connector on the engine harness just past the ECU hardwires to the white connector beside the glovebox. That's it. Finished.

OK you did it right by cutting the brown connector that is connected to ur ecu harness. THe dohc uses a brown plug vs white plug in the sohc. Now the white plug should be behind the glovebox. Remove the glove box and you should be able to see where it is.
What i did for my car was just use the white plug from the SOHC ecu harness and mated it up to where the brown plug used to be. About 6 or 7 wires should match up, so just match the colors. Electrical tape the leftover wires that aren't needed and you are good.
Here's a link how-to for an sr:

Just keep in mind that you should have a white plug hanging off the ecu harness instead of the brown plug liek they do in the picture.
Thats all you need to do like R240NA said. If wired up right, you shouldnt even have to touch the other cluster harnesses, assuming your cluster worked before that is.
