I was wondering if there is a dummy light anywhere to warn you before you tranny overheats or if you try to run it with no oil. My shifting the past few days has been getting rougher and rougher and I looked underneath and sure enough the bottom of the tranny is stained with oil leaking out of the bolt. Its not leaking enough to drip, so thats good, but its definately leaking out. I've been running my tranny w/out enough oil. I picked up some mobil 1 synthetic 75w90 today but didn't get a chance to put it in. I have to work tomorrow, is it safe to drive it like it is? I would assume so since I have been, but I guess its getting worse every day, or was rather...

Is there a light or anything that will warn me when my tranny oil is low or if its overheating?

Should I wake up at the ass crack of dawn and change my oil?
Should I wake up at the ass crack of dawn and add the mobile one in ontop of the remaining redline?
OR
Should I go to work like normal and do it when I get home?

Whats rtv stand for? I need something that will seal w/out locking like locktite does. tnord suggested a silicone stuff. I assume the local auto parts store would have this?

i dunno what rtv stands for but its rtv silicone sealetn

it isnt anything at all like locktite.

its the stuff you put on your valve cover front cover oil pan etc. nissan rtv is around 28 bucks whiich is pretty spensive imho but its good stuff.

Do I have to reapply every time I take the bolt off? Do I have to buy from nissan?

Also, is it ok for me to just add the mobile 1 synthetic 75w90 to the current redline synthetic 75w90? Both synthetic, both 75w90, both high quality and expensive shit I assume it would be ok...they will mix alright won't they?

this mobile 1 was $8 per 1qt thats more than redline!

yes you should reapply everytime you take the drain plugs and fill plugs off.

do you have to buy it from nissan? no ask for rtv silicone sealent at any parts store all work good just some dont work as good i know i didnt have any nissan rtv at home when i changed my clutch and used some blue rtv (dont remeber the name) and all my sensors have a lil leak

edit* i see no problem at all with mixing redline and mobile one it might not even be a quart you add unless your leaking that bad.

i agree with lawrence, use an rtv silicone, that's what i'm using to seal the holes i drilled for my harnesses. and as long as the mobil 1 and redline oils are the same weights (75w90) then it should be fine. but if they're not the same, i don't know what would happen.

I read somewhere that Ford Grey RTV is the same as Nissan Grey RTV. Might be able to get it cheaper.
