A guy in NOVA has a series 1 RB25 in an s13, he says he needs a radiator fan and the car needs timed for it to run fine.. He also said its bypassed the stock boost solenoid and runs only 5lbs of boost instead of 7lbs..

I am wondering if there is something wrong with this car..

Tell me what should i look for, what is a good PSI for compression? He said it has like 140 straight across.

Here's his Ad, What do you guys think?

Name: Marno
Location: Woodbridge, VA

Description: I'm not sure how far I can go with this project due to time and money constraints. So I just want to see if there's a market out there for my unfinished project.

Details:
- 89 S13 Hatch. Silverish blue in color. Needs paint. Busted pass. side fender. Rusted hatch. Car has had some previous body work. The body panels actually look pretty smooth and ding-free besides the damage listed. Clean title.
- Front 5 lug swap utilizing S14 components.
- Peak Performance Extended front lugs.
- Front Z32 Twin Turbo Aluminum brakes.
- Front Z32 wheels.
- Series 1 RB25DET with ~70,000 KHM. Completely stock. Motor is in and running. Runs good and strong but needs minor work. Turbo spools and sounds great.
- Mckinney Motorsports mount kit with drivershaft.
- Will also include misc. random parts like spare ECU, CAS, etc.

Main Needs:
- E-Fans (Pushers)
- Some chassis wiring; gauge cluster needs power, right headlight out, that's all that I can think of.
- Dash needs to be reinstalled. The car's interior is originally blue. The dash was cracked to hell but I have a perfect black one.
- Carpet was pulled and trashed
- General fine tuning of the motor such as timing and maintenance.

Miles: ~45,000 miles

Additional Information:
Let me stress again that this is a PROJECT car. It needs some more work to be driven. The interested buyer should have some knowledge in Nissans or cars in general.

is it normal to "bypass the stock boost solenoid?" and is wiring the r33 cluster a hard job? This guy says he needs a E fan infront of the radiator..

Don't take it personal but it sounds like you don't know what you're getting into. Beware when purchasing unfinished projects. Good luck.

I know a good bit about 240s and srs but nothign about rbs, i dont know what kinda comp they put out or if they have a boost solenoid or what i should look for in a good running one.. the car is for a decent price.. car runs but needs an e fan

If you have the time and money to spend on it and the deal is pretty good then go for it. 140 comp to me sounds low... I would download the FSM and double check. Electric fan isn't a big issue.
What's the selling price if you don't mind me asking?

Series I motor with only 45k? I highly doubt it. As for the compression numbers, RB25's usually run a bit higher than that, like 165-170 across the board. The e-fan situation is really a non-issue unless the jackass has run the car for extended periods of time without a fan altogether. RB's run H-O-T and need good fans, ducting, +/- a Koyo to stay happy and I've already warped the head on mine after it overheated badly one day:hahano:. I fixed the cooling issues by changing my blown HG, installing a Koyo, mounting the FAL220's as PULLERS (it CAN be done, contrary to popular belief), and fabbing up some underbody ducting.

The shell sounds alright but from reading the description, it sounds like nothing is totally completed and everything is half-finished, e.g. 1/2 of the 300zx brake swap, 1/2 of the 5 lug swap, etc. If the price is right then go for it because the RB25 in an s13 is a sweet setup and I love mine but be prepared to sink some serious coin into the project because RB parts are much more expensive than SR parts and are MUCHO more expensive than KA parts. I've got $10k (overall) in mine and I haven't even touched the turbo or injectors yet.

I second beware of project cars. I picked up a shell and it turned out to be a mini-nightmare. Just be careful and look at EVERYTHING. *a
