17x8.5 +38 17x9.5 +40 is that good for an s14?

Well then, YES they will look like absolute shit. Why buy good wheels if you're gonna get the worst fitment available? It's like getting the worst of the best. Like a BMW 323i.

Ideally with those sizes you'd want to be about +15-+20 depending on how flush you want them. I really suggest learning much more about how wheels fit ona 240 before spending money on decent wheels.

99% of salespeople do not know what extremes you can run wheel wise. They are usually only familiar with the weak sizes they stock wheels in so that is obviously what they are going to try and sell you. That's why you have to educate yourself so you know what you prefer and not what some numbnuts is suggesting. I guarentee if you told him you wanted to run 18x9.5 +20 wheels he would tell that they will not fit. Technially he'd also be right.

Go with 18 or 17 x 9.5 all around. I would go with about -5mm rear and about +5mm front. That's just me though. As you can see, the sizes they recommend you are about 50mm away from what I would get. They don't know what they're talking about.

It will look like a battle ship. Depending on whether you are gonna dump ur car, put on aero and what not, it may look like crap. Aero will make the wheels look more sunk in. If you dont run aero with monster truck ride height you mite pull it off. If you plan to dump it, add aero you will need at least a +25 or lower.

By clearance people usually mean between the coilovers and inside of the wheel/tire. Offsets in the +40mm range will have terrible clearance in comparison to a wheel with a proper offset. They will look better too(low offset). Win-win.

they run 17x9 +63 in back or some shit
