hey guys i just purchased 17x9 rims 27mm offset and 255/40/17 tires just wondering about clearance issues with fenders and shocks. i'm worried more about the shocks than the fenders. i will be running stock shocks until i get coilovers. i dont mind waiting for the coilovers if i have to, just wondering if anyone has had this setup. also what about rub in the front when wheels are turned all the way. thanks.

Test fit them.
Youll probably need about a 10mm spacer up front, depending on the shock/coilover.

255s are big. depending on how low you go, youll need a lot of roll/camber.

255 on the front is retarded.

it should be 225 front 245 rear, as far as the rear goes you should be fine.

pointless to run that much tire on stock suspension

it wont clear coilovers either wheny ou get them
sell the fronts

^ ya a 17x9 +17 already cuts it close. +27 is asking for trouble.

I don't know about ya'll, but 17x9 I'm rockin 215/45's. Some stretch, still easy to set the bead, and just tall enough to not worry about breakin the bead at the track. 255's is way too much rubber, but then again, maybe if you were into drag, then I see that. I'm rockin this setup with a 9JX17 +35 with a 25mm spacer and have no issues up front at all.

17 x 9 +30 offset w/ 10mm spacer upfront, 235/40s all around. Rear fits fine w/o spacers, front rubs just a little.

thanks for all relpies. so i will probably wait till i get the coilovers i want to run these wheels. and perhaps i will run 10mm spacers all around. i want to eventually go widebody. we'll see what the future holds. i will definately post picks when i get everything on. oh and reason for running 255 is for grip driving, not too much into the whole drift scene.

I wouldn't go bigger than 245 in the front but that's just imo. 10 mm is barely enough for me to clear, 20-25mm would be ideal but I need longer studs first.

well ill let you all know when i put the setup on. im going for a neutrally handling car so i decided i would go big on all four rather than a staggerd setup. All grip. I hoping that i can compare to e36 bmw handling soon enough

I run 17X9, +22 with 255/40-17 on ALL four.

Car is VERY balanced (Tein HE, proper camber and alignment, Whiteline front bar, stock SE rear bar...S14).

I have slight on-throttle understeer which can turn into oversteer with a little more throttle...just perfect for "grip".

FWIW...fits and works great.

Get the Koguchi Power front fenders! haha, and a giant spacer to fill them up.

-Jared

Seriously though, get lower offset and don't run such a giant front tire, unless you're Koguchi! haha (265 front)

255/45/17 is crazy tall on a 240

You should run 235/40/17 and 255/40/17 at MOST

Yeah i was leaning towards 255/40/17 in the rear and like 225/40/17 or 235/40/17 in the front, but b4 that i need to get coilovers with srpings, so my car dont look like a jeep.

Brian, did you rolled the front fenders and how much camber are you running? Thanks.

i find it hard to believe he'd fit that without completely flattened fenders and 3 deg of camber, even if he's not slammed

Well here's Orian's S14. The gold one on the left, duh...

I'm running 17x9 +17 with 245/40 Kumho MXs. Fenders are rolled all around, car is pretty low, albeit maybe not by zilvia standards. Clearance with fenders is pretty close (pretty aggressive camber too). Coilover clearance is fine. I had to cut my fender liners and pound a little bit of my inner fenders too (slight rubbing, probably from the 7.5* of caster I'm running). Now I just get a little rub against one of the front fender liners at full lock, no other issues. I'll be raising my car a bit next time I get an alignment though, which I imagine will eliminate any rubbing.

Yep, fender lip is rolled flat, but fenders are not rolled by the Zilvia definition of rolled...just the inside lip rolled flat to the outside.

...and -2.5 camber or so, maybe a little less.

they come in +17

sell the +27's and buy the +17's. MB motorsports are cheap enough

He might have a tough time doing that...especially since they are available in a lower offset.

Nothing wrong with the +27 offset!

As long as they clear the coilover fine, that just means he can run a bigger tire and still clear the fender, not like the guys with the +17 offset.

And if he still wants to be a little more flush, just throw a 5mm spacer on it and he'll be at +22 effective offset, which Orian has already said that he has on his car and has 255 tires on his wheels, and they clear with rolled fenders.
