heres the story peeps..i need some help..well my car is working fine now i just wanna know wat the heck went up that night. heres how the story goes..

i was racing my friend down a long strip for the hell of it..i was in 3rd he was in 2nd and he started to gas it and i knew he was gonna race..so we did race i of course kicked his ass but when i shifted to 5th gear and went a while my whole car just shut off!!! i didnt redline it or nothin. i then pulled off the to side and turned the key and the car started up..but when i hit the gas nothing happen..it wouldnt rev. i tried it like twice still no gas. i then waited like 1-2mins and turned on car and it was back to normal, reving. my friend dint know wtf happen either. i soon then asked another friend that knows a lot about cars, i told him that i bolted on a INJEN short ram intake and that i dindt take out the battery or the fuse to let it restart the first time i did it. i also told him i read on 240sx.org that peoples cars be shutting down on them after they put on intake, but then i had my intake for a while now..like 3 months..so why did my car turn off? did the ECU finally reset for the intake? my friend said after every bolt on..push ur car so it can break it in..and let ECU reset...but that time when i put intake on i didnt do no ECU or nothing i juss bolted it on and drove around. so im just wonderin wat happen that night? anybody please help

thanx

At 115 there is a speed limiter and the ECU will cut off fuel. &nbsp; This will kill your car and cause it not to run right for a few mins till fuel is flowing nicely again. &nbsp;Probably what happened.

there is a rev limiter and a speed limter on the 240. To my understanding both will cut off fuel.

fuel cut-off is not redline. its at 115. a revlimiter just keeps you from revving past a certain point. at 115 my car SEEMED like it completely lost power and my car just started pretty much coating, but my car coasted till i got down to aroun 50mp..i think. but then i just stepped on the gas and kept going. watch your fuel cutoff though because when it happened to me i just happened to be in the wrong lane because i was passing someone and believe me it was scary.

oh i guess the fuel limiter cut me off i really never went pas 115 but i have gone 100 before. &nbsp;is there a way to take out the fuel and rev limiter?

Isn't the fuel cuttoff at 120?

I believe people have pulled the yellow wire going into the ecu to get rid of the speed limiter. &nbsp; No one has ever said anything about side effects to my knowledge. &nbsp; As for the rev limiter, I have no idea what to do about that. &nbsp;Just don't take your car into the red, I guess? <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

I have heard nothing but bad things about people pulling and cutting wires and their car is all jacked up now. &nbsp;I wish that 240sx.org would take down the FAQ on the speed limiter b/c it seems to mess up quite a few cars. I bet that you don't really have the suspension to handle going faster then 120 anyway. Or the skill really. I would not suggest it.
Be happy with what you got, if you really want to go that fast, get the suspension, tires and brakes to handle it then spend the $$$ on JWT ecu.
